#New PC unable to access BIOS

So I had previously had issues and sent my system back to be assessed, my GPU was replaced as it was underperforming, the problem persisted when the system returned but turned out it was a watchdog timer reset causing random restarts along with freezing issues.

I've received an entirely new built computer from production, I've installed windows again and all my programs, re-purchased windows. Drivers are all up to date, latest BIOS , chipset, gpu drivers, windows etc.

DOCP is enabled in the BIOS during installation and my ram was at 5600 mhz but now it's taking an extremely long time to post, when I do post after several minutes. My ram speed is now 4800 mhz and I cannot enter the bios whatsoever, it literally goes straight to windows without the bios button prompts on boot.

Monitor Cables

If you have a discrete GPU then you need to plug your monitor cable into the graphics card, not the motherboard. This can be found on the Quick Start Guide which was emailed to you, or you can download it with the /tag guide command.

Yeah it is very strange as previous PC same specs was fine, it does take long to post but not this long

#

as it does ram checks each boot

#

DOCP is enabled, I've not turned it off BUT I think the ram checks are having issues and it's taking longer as it's disabling it for me

#

but to see I need bios 😄

#

let's give this method ago

#

I hope so too as this has been my first ever pre-built system in my 20+ years of PC

#

and I can't lie it's gone extremely unwell

#

No I understand it's the parts at fault

#

but these things should be found during the build process

So I've finished all windows updates thought I did and still persists

#

HOWEVER I can get into the bios once connected to the mobo

#

DOCP was enabled as expected

#

I am more than willing to send it back yet again and go for the 13900k, I did think about it more after I first purchased this system, kind of wished I went with my gut

So I've been able to get into the BIOS once display was connected to the motherboard, DOCP was enabled this entire time, no idea why I was getting 4800mhz instead of 5600mhz upon restarting and re-enabling DOCP. My entire system refused to boot, I've cleared the CMOS and re-enabled DOCP. I'm not running at 5600mhz now, it posts now HOWEVER I'm still unable once display is connected to GPU to gain entry to BIOS

#

I've also noticed that my computer is 100% louder now after clearing the CMOS, assuming due to fan curves being reset BUT I can't get into the BIOS to change it

i won't get into it, but it's not a fault - wait for bios updates which will slowly improve the flatform

#

Set a fan curve you like, and leave it alone - something so trivial as not entering the bios is a none issue - use the PC as it's intended

#

@ripe sigil Stop scaring people, and quit with your anti-AMD propaganda

#

It's a new chipset, things happen, like every new chipset, things improve

#

Look at new chipsets like you look at new games - if it's in alpha you expect randomness, weirdness, glitches, bugs and whatever else, it happens with every new chipset, has since the beginning of time

Like you said this is a new issue but strangely enough my previous system didn't have entering BIOS issues and that was fully updated and flashed to latest version.

#

Same CPU/mobo/ram combo

it is - the BIOS is something any standard PC user should not be accessing frequently, nor should be required to - even the most adept users will only access the BIOS once in a blue moon, and that is usually due to overclocking or settings tweaking, something which we will actively advise is not supported by our support, nor warranty

#

Any PC we have built with fan control will be accessible via software control, or remote, none that will require exclusive bios access

#

tpm will be enabled on any windows 11 system by default since its a system requirement, any prior to windows 11 should be enabled by default but would only require access once

#

same for SVM

#

any other difficulties with bios, see my previous comments, also disable fast boot if that is enabled in any motherboard software. As you mentioned under the current circumstances you've found a nack to get into th BIOS if required, but moving forward it will improve with future updates and chipset support

#

As with all new chipsets and BIOS revisions, they wont be without 'growing pains'; so it's just a case of let the manufacturers improve and go from there

I didn't purchase windows 11, I installed windows 10 myself and I also wouldn't class myself as a standard user either. I've got a commander pro fan controller but I have 9 fans in my case, 3 of them I have to go into the BIOS to change the speeds of.

I seem to be having USB issues now, my headset keeps disconnecting

#

Run me back whats happened

#

XMP is working yes?

#

Are any other devices disconnecting?

midnight escarp
#

Yeah sorry for the long delay

#

XMP is working, can occasionally get into BIOS without connecting to the motherboard

#

no more disconnects

#

but I did have my PC freeze earlier on valorant, fans changed colours and sounded like it restarted but it didn't for a long time until done manually
