Hi all,

  1. I just received a custom build containing a H00i 240mm RGB black AIO. Around the sides of the CPU block (the bit with the RGB) I've noticed some wrinkled plastic. Can this plastic be removed (as in like a protective film) or is it supposed to stay on? I couldn't see a tab or loose bit to pull on.

Note: I did pull the circular piece of plastic film off the the top part of the CPU block (the bit with the Corsair logo).

  1. Also, it appears that the “RTX GeForce” logo on the side of my 4090 is smudged. As in, the silver text looks like it’s been partially wiped off with something.

Performance isn’t affected as far as I can see, but is this normal?

Thanks for your time.
Adam

Also, the 4090 doesn’t have any RGB active (MSI 4090 gaming trio).

Hey can you post some pictures? I’d imagine it’s just films you can remove but just want to make sure

Sorry, photos aren’t brilliant.

If I remember correctly those might just be protective films to keep everything pristine during transit, with that cooler I know the front piece is, but the side piece I’m not entirely surely, Have you checked if the one on the graphics card peels away?

hollow solstice
#

It doesn’t feel like the GPU has any protective film. It just appears that the logo is smudged. The texture of the lettering is the same as the rest of the card (ie not plastic)

#

The AIO doesn’t seem to have any tabs or bits that I can pull to get the plastic film off. I could use a knife to get under it maybe?

warm sun
#

I'm gonna say

#

That must be protective film

#

This however, that is just weird,

hollow solstice
#

Yep. No idea why it’s smudged

#

Not sure if I should reach out to Cyberpower about the smudge?

I would

I've never seen a smudged card, so that's new

#

or if it is smudged, its just plastic that peels

civic plover
#

Who makes gpus that smudge

#

Huh

#

Take the glass off

warm sun
#

it was probably roblox donators GPU when he was trying to find the RGB

hollow solstice
#

I’ve removed the plastic around the AIO.

#

GPU is def smudged.

civic plover
#

Uh oh that's a first

#

I think it was to do with the instapak rubbing against it

#

Even though this is a minor thing, CPUK will help

Please don't hesitate to ask 🙏

hollow solstice
#

To be honest, if it’s working well, I don’t really care. Quite a lot of aggro to pull it out and send it back.

warm sun
#

Honestly, as you said, if its working without any issues, I wouldn't really fuss about sending the whole PC back just for that to be replaced, I don't think they do it, but maybe they would permit you to just send the GPU back for a swap, but who knows

hollow solstice
#

I’ll give them a call tomorrow

#

Probs won’t bother sending the GPU back

civic plover
#

A few days

#

For a few years

#

Count me in!

hollow solstice
#

So I’m sending the GPU back because, in addition to the smudge, I was getting all sorts of weird frame rate drops in games. Also in games that are very old or undemanding (like the original DOOM - DSDA, or DUSK).

#

Using RTSS I monitored the frame rate and frame times and was seeing lots of stutter

#

CPUK we’re great with the customer support

#

Faulty GPU is being collected today.

hollow solstice
#

How long should I wait for the new GPU to arrive? I know they won’t send one out until the old one turns up at their warehouse

hollow solstice
#

Nice one thanks. I’m assuming they won’t have to test the faulty one (since it’s physical damage- see pics above)?

next swallow
#

Yeah it'll be an instant acceptance and you'll get a new GPU

#

That smudge is very weird like how does that even happen

warm sun
#

it looks like the ink started melting

#

and then smudged

#

which

#

is wild in itself

next swallow
#

Yeah god knows or someone got some sand paper

#

and went ham

warm sun
#

because it looks like

#

some of the letters

#

have melted

#

like the paint

hollow solstice
#

It’s really weird. It looks like some chemical has rubbed it away. You can even see finger prints to the right of the RTX bit.

#

Only has the machine since Saturday.

warm sun
#

that is just wild

hollow solstice
#

Yup. Really hoping the new GPU fixes the stuttering too

#

It’s so odd that it’s just in old games. DOOM (DSDA source port) keeps dropping from 120-144 frames constantly.

#

My old i7 9700 and 3070 could run it flawlessly
