#Can’t find SSD

Do you know if it's an NVME SSD or a Sata SSD?
MOTHERBOARD: MSI PRO B660M-E DDR4: mATX w/ USB 3.2, 1x M.2
:tada: Congrats @toxic tapir, you levelled up to 1! :tada:
Ok, in that case it will be in the 1x M.2 slot on your motherboard
^
If you're wanting to add an extra drive you will have to get a different one, being a Sata SSD, however if you're replacing your current one then it's a different matter
hmm okay, as i said i think i’m just being stupid i have this SSD i want to put in but clearly it looks completely different to the current one in my PC
Yeah it will
That is a 2.5 inch Sata SSD
You currently have a smaller NVME drive
You can still put that in your PC though provided you have the space
You can use either of the 2 little drive trays in the bottom left
Or either of the 2 metal plates above your PSU on the right
okay thanks huge help
No worries, if you need anymore help, you know where to find us
the wires required to plug it in are already amongst the big pile of wires right
Should be yes
The PSU should have a spare sata power port on one of the cables, and you should have a spare sata data cable in your accessories bag, if not, you can contact tech support and ask for one

okay finally, middle right where you said i can place the SSD is there a way i could secure it in?
or is my SSD size different to what it’s used for
ignore me
i found it
thanks for the help really
i came to the conclusion i’m stupid
Sorry I was afk, you got it all sorted now?
kind of
i’m trying to find
the smaller sata port
not sure it’s amongst the flood of spare wires tucked away
Can you take a photo of which one you mean?
You should have a spare cable in the accessories bag that came with your PC
If you don't you will need to contact tech support
The ends will look something like that
ah yeah
:tada: Congrats @toxic tapir, you levelled up to 2! :tada:
One end goes in your SSD and the other into your Motherboard
No worries
You will need to format it once you're in windows, do you know how to do that?
no ma’am
however
it seems to recognise it already
do you always have to format?
Is it brand new or has it been used before?
from my old PC
Ah ok, in that case never mind, you're all good to go
actually whilst i have you i wanted to ask if my motherboard is compatible with RGB
Because my CPU fan is RGB but it doesn’t work
Your motherboard itself is not capable of controlling RGB
But I noticed you have a CP ARGB HUB in that back of your PC, do you know what CPU Cooler it is that you have, it might be possible to connect it to the hub and control it with the same remote for your fans
it’s connected to my fans
so 3 of mine are working RGB
I’ll send my cpu cooler 1 second
Graphics
CS_FAN: 3x CyberpowerPC Hyperloop 120mm ARGB & PWM Fan Kit
FAN: Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Air Cooler
I believe that is RGB only, not ARGB, so wouldn't connect to the ARGB hub without doing a little DIY which is probably best to avoid if you don't know what you're doing
However it should have come with it's own internal controller
it has
Should look like this, and pressing it should allow you to control the RGB
But it needs to be internally wired into your PC
Not a remote one like your fans
is it something i need to buy?
Nope, it comes as part of the cooler you bought, so if it's not already installed, it should be inside your accessories bag that your sata cable was in
so what your telling me is
i can get a static RBG for it
however i can’t control it
meaning it can’t just be ‘off’
You can control it, but you need that controller inside the case to be connected to control it
However having just been on Cyberpowers site looking at something to help someone else, I noticed they don't have the RGB versions of the Hyper 212 right now, are you sure yours is an RGB one?
it says cooler master hyper 212 RGB
:tada: Congrats @toxic tapir, you levelled up to 3! :tada:
Nope ok fair enough, that is an RGB one, there's 2 cables that will be coming off the fan somewhere, one will be plugged into the motherboard to control the fan speed, can you see where the other cable is going?
Can you take a picture?
Right I see, and you don't have on of those little controller things I posted previously?
not i can see
See if you can get the cable to reach one of those, if you can, remove the red cover and plug it in, but make sure you plug it in the right way round
Bruh why does my discord always rotate peoples pictures when I edit them 😂
sorry
you’ve asked me to get the shortest wire
in the world to the back of my PC
lmao
Yes
So obviously make sure your PC is off first
Wouldn't want it over heating
The fan will just unclip from the metal heat sink making it easier for you to check
😂
I mean it works haha
If it reaches just make sure you put it on the right way around
wait it’s gone in like a charm
it is 3 pin
but the fan plug is 4 pin
does it still work
If it's gone in like a charm then it probably isn't in, those things are normally really awkward
…
There should be a small little arrow on one side of the cable header, if that connects to the singular separate pin of the 3 pin connector you should be fine
Yeah that should work then, if it doesn't work then unfortunately you will have to contact tech and see if they have any spare controllers anywhere
In that case I'm sorry but you're gonna have to see if Cyberpower has spares and go without RGB for now

Additionally, unplug the cable and replace the little red plastic cover
It's not a given, since one is ARGB and the other is RGB, but sometimes it does work, sometimes it doesn't
Uncertain, if it does cost you anything, it should be more than a couple of quid, but given they should have sent it with your PC if they didn't use it, it should hopefully not cost you anything
how would we know if they did use it
If they used it, it would be connected inside your PC and you would have been able to change the RGB on your cooler
Well you said the cable was unplugged and took a photo of it, so it clearly wasn't in your case anywhere, so if it's not in your accessories bag that I suggested you check, then you don't have it
okay
thanks for all the help
i’ll get on the tech support for a replacement
youve been a real help ahri
:tada: Congrats @toxic tapir, you levelled up to 4! :tada:
before i leave
what exacrtlty is it called that i need to request from the tech support team?
Ask them for the RGB internal controller for a Hyper 212 cooler
No worries, I'm here to help where I can 😄
how do i close this ticket or does it close itself
It just closes itself after a certain amount of innactivity
@ebon heron hello
sorrry for the ping but i spoke to tech support
apparently "this just means it's not possible to use the RGB on your for the CPU fan in your system"
I don't understand what you mean
It is possible, you just need the controller that should have been sent out with your PC, or even installed in your PC
