Battlegrounds weapons

I'm currently working on a Kingdom Hearts battlegrounds game, and if you don't know almost every character uses a sword or some sort of weapon. I'm an absolute beginner at roblox studio. Please tell me how to put a weapon on a player when they join, and how to switch that weapon for a different one when they switch characters.(I alrerady have the switching characters down)

Add a tool to the player's backpack based on which character they have chosen

For example if they press that characters button you add the tool to the player's backpack
