#Need HELP!

explain your problem here then more people will be able to help
whats the point of opening a forum post if you want people to dm you instead of replying here
fr I truly dont get it
more likely to get free code out of it
or so they think
might be the stupidest sh iâve heard
expose your problem to more people
bother one person
surely the choice is clear
naw the trick is that anyone willing to voluntarily commit to fixing their problem, whatever it turns out to be, has already dm'd them first
that's why they do it
they don't want help, they want free code, and this is the easiest way to get it since ai cannot do it
wdym?
wdym wdym
iâm slow ash rn and have reading comprehension lv 0
i donât understand what u said
anyone who dms them has already partly committed to fixing their problem whatever it turns out to be
ah yeah sunk cost fallacy ig
and if it turns out that after 30 minutes "I just dont get it can you show me what its supposed to look like when its working?
" "okay fine here's the working code"
that's the one, yeah.
i swear
i've lost track of the number of help threads that devolve into that
many such cases đ
but anyway ya thats why they ask for dm
to get you to make the initial investment into fixing their problem, you're much more likely to just give them the code outright
makes sense ig
i think itâs stupid still
like they canât get an entire game done like that so either they learn coding or drop the game
kids are stupid but not as stupid as they get credit for
there are two unlimited things, the universe, and kids stupidity
you'd be surprised, a determined kid can do a lot. it may seem tedious to you or i, but you can in fact eventually make games by begging people for code
shit maybe thatâs the meta for coding games
just bother people enough to code for you

incredible
i do not have the patience for that
just like how all kids know not to say their real age
and always stick to the discord age range
they know they'll get banned if they're underage, they already know that
youâre either a smart fella or a fart smella
all that effort to get 5 lines of code
i respect the hustle
it's a weird place of, they're too stupid to do it themselves, but not stupid enough to manipulate people into getting what they want
fair enough
i guess itâs easy to write off as stupid when youâre experienced w coding and think itâs as easy / easier than having others do it for you compared to not knowing any
i think itâs a shame they wonât learn anything from the code they are given
they're only looking for a shortcut to the front page, and there just isn't any. but they all eventually learn that the hard way.
i mean just take one glance at the sheer volume of people asking for:
- help making an m1
- and then help with latency-related problems to said m1
and it's always latency problems for an m1, it's never anything else like "oh hey i made a tag game and it's a bit hard to tag people because of latency". no. it's always an m1.
and you can't take any random person off the street and make some lag compensation and prediction for an m1, most people dont know how to do it
I would be guilty of this if I did not have access to google and a brain
I mean even the other day, I was guilty of it (Your explanation was very good, thank you again
)
I think the key to those who want to learn is to guide them to a solution over giving them code, âfeed a man fish and heâll eat for a dayâ or something
you can try but they're still going to look for a shortcut
it's why i don't give help as much as i used to, anymore because 9 times out of 10 the effort is just wasted on someone who only wanted free code or a shortcut, rarely to learn anything.
Yeah, Iâm referring to people who make a thread specifically asking for help instead of outright asking for code, itâs pretty easy to tell who genuinely wants to learn and whoâs just there for the free code
i guess all they can see is hey look, steal a brainrot, they make it look so easy, i want a frontpage steal a brainrot too and give myself all the brainrots and free admin and you can have free admin too if you make the game for me... đźâđš exhausting.
I mean the worst part is that games like that are easy to make, and they shouldnât be as popular as they are
I miss the age of apocalypse rising and phantom forces đ
they are not easy to make. they are relatively easy to make. relative to the developers.
What do you mean?
I donât doubt my ability to make a game like that over a weekend provided with assets such as models and sounds
if you're starting dev on roblox from nothing -- and i don't mean no skill, i mean like if you're in my position where you can develop games but you have no established codebase or assets on roblox, you haven't learn the api yet etc etc - those can be a bit difficult to make since you have to build everything from scratch
but the people who make those games, as best i can tell, they're not starting from scratch. not even close.
Yeah I mean most games just re use assets and frameworks like itâs black friday
But even then, I donât think starting from 0 assets, just having knowledge of roblox and luau, that it would be very hard to make
models take a long time to make, even if you're using a voxel-model
Yeah absolutely the modelling and gui work and sound effects would take tons of time, but purely from a scripting standpoint, sorry that it was a bit unclear
ya even from scripting, it's still moderately difficult on an absolute scale
the thing is always the dunning kruger effect
these kids don't know what they don't know, and it looks like it's easy because they only ever see release day. they don't see the weeks, months of work beforehand getting it just right, nor all the accumulated code and assets that made everything even easier
Definitely
if you knew nothing about roblox game dev and saw those games get released, you'd think it easy too, but we know better
relatively easy, but not absolutely easy
Yeah for sure
only because you already know how to code
I mean if I wanted to make a 1:1 replica itâd take me months as I have zero knowledge of modelling audio design visual effects etc so for sure
but purely scripting wise itâs easy to bring up a mental model of what has to be done and how, and what youâll do to accomplish it
I do have to head to bed rn though as itâs soon 5am and I need to get my precious sleep đ I enjoyed our conversation though!
if you focus solely on the core gameplay and behavior, yeah. but im not talking about just that, i'm talking about everything else like analytics, group checks, processreceipt, datastore safety measures to prevent data loss etc
all those other things around it
anyway
dont let me keep you
