Creating a tower defense styled game, what are some main things i should note

Also when creating characters and heroes for the game im wondering how i can do this and customize animations etc. i dont want to use the roblox models from toolbox and or rig builder as it seems too blocky.

for models / rigs go with blender and for animations either also in blender or moon animator or the normal animation editor in roblox i guess
