If so locals don't run there

Move the local or make it server
Or maybe server script with run context (I think it's how it's called the property) set to client

Do local scripts only work in ui or what not?

Anywhere that is handled by the client side, it does include StarterGui, but also StarterPlayer and even ReplicatedFirst
