I have a question if I were how would I make a npc stay on a road but choose like a random spot to walk to on the road

a weak navmesh being kind-of like a navmesh except you don't use it for pathfinding, you only use it to choose destinations, in short, have a large cube part and pick a random location in the cube. place cubes along road.
