script still works after disabling it

in test mode, starter scripts are cloned to be children of the player.
you were disabling scripts that weren't actually running in the first place.
to disable a that script, you must go to olayers -> you -> playerscripts, find your script and disable it there.

by the way, each of your starter folders clone to different parts of the player:
starterplayerscripts are scripts added once you join, and they are in players.player.playerscripts.

startercharacterscripts are scripts added every respawn. they are found inside your character model in workspace

finally starterGUI clones to Players.player.playerGUI.
