If you are new you're probably not gonna want to mess with this. But if you really need to I believe they use some sort of voxel system
Though I would imagine it might require some math

i tried using it but i couldnt get it to work lol
You can also create models made of parts welded together and dissolve the welds of parts you touch with an object or within an area of an object. Then you can place lots of the models of objects/buildings without having to build every one.
