#why people sayscripting so hard its really not
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
its you who need to give reasons on why it is not hard?
how
how tf do you want to give me reasons on how its easy
what did you code?
how else do you want me to say ir
multidirectional movement system, top down shooter, gun system, etc
but i kinda quit after my account got banned so those were like 6 months ago
sad
still I dont see any difficult there is obvius
difficult is making a whole project
top down shooter was a hole project
took like a couple days
if it took a couple days it was just for learning
dude scripting is just
oh, ik how to do that. oh, theres a error, let me google it. or look at the docs
why the need to specify multidirectional?
🤔
because its multidirectional
that's normal roblox?
omg bro
xd
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhxr6a-H6lc
smth like this
oh you made strafe?
uhh ig you can call it that not really it was alot more complex, but sure
it was also climbing and stuff but ok
oh neat you added strafe to climbing too?
you can make strafing in like 20 minutes
did you use controllermanager?
no
wait 1 sec brb like 2 or 3 minutes i gotta get some food
very little bit
wha? you either did or didn't..
so you checked it out and chose not to use it?
no i did but i didn't use it MUCH
bruh
tbh thats what i said
What do u want ppl to say like yeah ig ur amazing!!!
are you stupid
😞✌️
just tryna get it from a new perspective
wowww opinions
who would've knew???
So u got a new perspective and u didn’t like it
???
I didn't even get a answer to my question
??
he said
"no you should give reasons"
like what
ur not evening tryna answer my question
anyway code is not hard, it's nice when you reach that point where you can practically code anything given infinite time and research, that realization point happens for all adept coders, so congrats on reaching this milestone
. most s2's are at that point already or beyond. most s1's are still figuring it out. it's the libraries and the more complex design patterns that make things hard from this point.
THATS NOT THE QUESTION!!!!
W
i think thats my opinion too, at first it was hard but now its kinda just ez
that moment when you realize you've taken your first real step up the slope of enlightenment.
the basics are easy, but you still have tonnes to learn.
when did we start talking about cpu's 😭
ngl i expected for every single to turn on
performance of your scripts.
ok
sssssso question answered?
** You are now Level 7! **
ye kinda, not really satisfied with it though
Ig id just say it can be hard but it depends what ur doing. If your just making obbys then ofc its super ez but it your make really complex things then its difficult
🤷♂️
maybe its just because i really enjoy programming
If you wanna conplain go to general or somrthing
go learn actors and then tell me it's still easy https://create.roblox.com/docs/scripting/multithreading
did multithreading in different languages idk if this is what ur talking about
stfu let me a hater
at the end of the day, if you want recognition, which seems to be what this thread is about, then get ranked #📃︱ranking-tickets and let that speak for itself.
because of the math 🙂
math is pretty scary sometimes
Yk given my current situation ts makes mr keep going
Epix
Anyway this channel is not for fucking arguing
Gtfo
because theres a huge slope for the things you need to learn, and after that is when it becomes easy.
for example i know my fair share of stuff, but i don't know how to make a proper strafing system and movement system in roblox. i never really got to it, so i have no clue how i would go about implementing it.
it's the amount of spaces, and the knowledge you need to get for so many scenarios and cases.
you may know raycasting for example, but you might not 100% be aware on how you could use it to make a gun
you might know metatables but youre unsure what oop is good for and how youd use it
you gotta learn everything and the ways to go about doing things before you can truly customize it to the extent you want and extend upon that system with your own ideas and such
is this real
uh, yeah?
its the research you have to do, the things you need to learn
but the hardest part by far is debugging
debugging takes the most amount of time because of the amount of bugs literally any and every script produces
you can spend a minute to a day on those
or even a week
i remember spending a full day figuring out the MOST simple issue
yeah
which was that running a module on the commandbar
if that module requires any other module or has a reference
it could take up months sometimes
those modules are ran twice because of a seperate lua environment
and i found nothing about this!
its especially hard if what youre trying to do isnt covered
the natural solution is to go to devforum but majority of your errors are not covered! like only 1% are
try searching up how to do a turn based system
you find literally nothing other than "oh use state machines"
no general idea, no nothing. just "use this thing but i wont show you how or why this could be useful or even related to what youre trying to do"
thats why i cancelled the idea of learning that at some point
yes and you run into the most dogshit tutorials
which only tells you
how to set it up
since my animation is just straight up bad lol
and doesnt actually teach you techniques
the only difference is alan beckers 12 principles
that holds up extremely well
im a teacher so i could probably
ramble on and on
not an official licensed teacher, but i'm a good explainer
do you use blender to animate?
i'm 15 i couldn't even get a license
yes
a mix of both moon and blender, since both have their uses
man you'r eyounger.. i am 18
woah there's a principles for animation
damn that's sick ddint know that
😭
they are very important principles
and they are in every animation known to man
because thats what makes it good, that's what makes itw ork
even in a dogshit animation its present a lot of the time
alan becker just explains how to do it well, while its regarding 2d animation, everything mentioned applies to 3d animation as well, and the difference is that his main field of expertise is just in 2d animation. it's also only him going over a book a popular disney animator made regarding the 12 principles of animation, BUT with actual animated examples and a great voiceover
bro i think animation is really hard considering that you have to change every position... of a hand and every body parts
theres tools that make it simple. it's easy but time consuming
you dont have to "debug" like you do in scripting
you just polish at most, maybe. that's like refining code
yeah debugging takes time i get it, that's why i will dont focus for it for now since basically i just learn scripting. 🙂 theres no point of becoming good at it when i can create a lot of games 🙂 but i am most interested now is the gui role and the animation
but i guess i will have to start from scratch..
damn
it's not hard, just tedious
much like many parts of scripting; not hard, just tedious and time-consuming.
try searching up how to animate a character climbing onto a horse. it's the same everywhere you go
yeah it's pretty hard to figure out the general idea or way of going about it
you might know the things and the functions used to make it but you just don't quite know how to put it together
and then it falls apart
then you learn something from it and try it again, you always do it better the 2nd time
the only hard parts are stuff regarding cframes, a bit of math and that's it. the math part is the only hard part. all the calculating and such which might be too complex if you're doing it entirely by yourself.
for example physics
and the cycle repeats
the issue is when you are unaware of how to get started
you mostly do research and research until you find out even a tad bit on how you should go about it, then it starts to click
getting started is easy: give it a go and don't give up
mastery is hard: y'know, the not-giving-up part.
it takes only 10,000 hours to master any skill.
