i think this is a good idea, however you acknowledged not always being capable to determine who may have bias in the ranking team. this change then expands the ranking system to a community based system, which could account for even more bias than just the previously entrusted individuals who had been specifically tasked to rank

even if ranking staff or rankers themselves were to go through, not everyone knows peoples ties throughout the community. this change could be good, but it also brings such a hefty risk of an increase of not fairly given ranks with it

@young pier idk if i'm onto something, but why don't you implement it in a way where you dont even know who's work it is? like you input your work into a bot, and eligible people get to choose what rank it is. then when you reach sufficient votes/vouches, you "claim it?" and all your works are revealed to sr rankers for a quick legitmancy test or wtver

because be fr if someone doesnt have a good repuation or is hated on or something, they are NOT getting vouched fairly
