This is pretty good but in my opinion there’s some flaws with this
- Some people don’t want to do vc (but ig you could still do chat conference but then the user could still use ai to answer the questions given in the conference)
- There’s likely gonna be a time zone difference and rankers most likely won’t find time to do the conference cuz it’s not like their paid to do this anyways
- People specialize in different fields (but ig you could ask questions about their field in vc so nvm this)
But at the end of the day, it’s just a discord role (edit: the only exception being if you want the perks s2+ gives, but tbh I don’t think a ranker is going to make an entire game based off of your code(s))
Thank you for your feedback! I think those are good points that I think we could address #1 by making this an additional, optional method of verification for those who feel more comfortable with this method.
Also, I agree that while rankers may be in different timezones or not have enough time, I think that scheduling appointments could be a valid solution for this.
This method could only apply for s3 and s4 which would reduce the caseload for rankers.
More experienced developers tend to be very busy as well, and this could be a much more feasible & convenient alternative for them.
And while it is just a discord role, it's important for members to receive appropriate roles so that they can benefit from the server as much as everyone else, enabling them to network with more experienced peers who understand their problems. Experienced coders deserve the recognition, especially if they are taking their time to contribute to the community and help members who are still learning.
The most important thing I wanted to highlight however, is the question of should we really be promoting a culture that encourages or even requires highly advanced developers to give up their intellectual property and competitive edge in the marketplace? We should be teaching all developers, especially young developers, to value their code and protect it's monetary value. The more difficult something is to achieve, the more valuable it is in the marketplace. Developers already don't know enough about business management, and it leads to the exploitation of young, sometimes extremely talented coders.
In the software industry, licensing is everything, & respectfully, nobody should be giving out code if it is already worthy of a level 4 rank. This is the reason why people create obfuscated code, and why large game development studios place so much value into secrecy, NDAs, and protection of intellectual property. The reality is, it's not about the risk of rankers stealing the code. At that level, when you read somebodys code and notice that their techniques are objectively better than what your currently using as your standard throughout projects, trust me, from then on, it will be almost impossible to not use that knowledge in future scripts.
Advanced coders don't need to copy scripts directly, we will almost automatically implement newly learned processes into all future works, without even thinking about it.
