#where to start (small project, im a beginner)

do you know how to code?
yes (the basics)
and you mean you can do more than assemble from memory?
** You are now Level 10! **
uhh i think
ok well first of all, this is to mean no insult to you, but as a starter dev, whatever concept you have for a large open world mmo or whatever it is, it will not happen
i thought the same when i first started
so like a proof of concept?
i had this concept for this crazy 50 hour long open world fps game with all these different cities and whatnot, and i got nowhere besides making a really small city and copying a few tutorials for basic features.
you will want to make proofs of concepts to practice and work on your skills.
at least a few.
alright
And what do you consider the "basics"
hitboxes/raycasting, creating instances and copies, all the stuff someone would learn in about a couple of weeks of roblox tutorials.
and reading roblox forums
those are rather specific
well is that bad?
imagine this:
you have a plate of which you will place your cake (the game) on.
if you don't have a good plate (knowledge), the cake will touch the table (no good)
having a good enough plate means knowing all the essential things
right now, hitboxes/raycasting and creating instances and copies are essential, but only a few pieces of the plate.
you won't need all the essentials, but a majority of them.
ohhhhhhhh
