my issue is that idk how to make the shark swim towards the player. if the player gets within 30 studs the shark just continues to cycle through its waypoints without attacking the player

you could add an invisible cilnder that is attached to the shark the size world be as big as the radius only make can touch on and tranparency1 now just trigger it when the player touched the cilinder ^~^

connect the cilindr to the shark using weld
