It’s on purpose, the backup channels are not discussion channels. They’re there to give people that have issues with the forum channels a chance to receive help. They should do so by opening a thread. We’re actively trying to discourage people from using the backup channels unless they are unable to use the forum channels.

Forum channels are also now finally available to the general public, so soon backup channels could probably be phased out since i can only assume most breaking bugs have been solved

"It's on purpoae, the backup channels are not discussione channels"

I understand this, but it's a bit boring to do a 3km text to help a person or to wait for 2min every time.

He mentions to use threads, which do not have a cooldown, and was the original intention of having a channel cooldown in the first place. If someone asks a question you want to solve, just create a thread from their message

#

i know this is not widely known, which is to no ones fault because its not obvious, but if ppl start to use them, others will catch on

Yeah, but unless it's super boring, no one wants to open a thread.

Among other things, opening a thread means that for each thread I open to help a person, I must have dozens of chats open on the side of the screen

personally, thats what i like about them, thats how ik that youve responded and to reply to you now, but to each their own obviously.

You can also leave the threads to declutter your side bar once they become inactive, but if its an issue, coping with the cooldown is the only solution i can see as of now.

I have just checked, and i do agree that 2 minutes is a little excessive, however the two options that i see is:

  1. use threads to replicate the forum channel style (intended)
  2. try and cope with the cooldown

To a certain extent it can be seen as a form of democracy, although not everything is decided by everyone and the end decisions are made by the staff team. So, yes and no.

However I want to make clear that we try to follow the communities wishes as closely as possible. And if the team decides to for example want me to resign, I would most likely do (most likely incase someone decides to use a joke campaign against me lol).
