I'm working on a general guideline to follow when it comes to modding and looking for advice on what my minimum secondary speed should be for 5 dot mods at levels 15-D,C,B, and A respectively so that I get the most speed out of my mods.

They way I look at things, is I'm rarely interested in mods that can't reasonably become +25 speed.

General prudence for this is
Grey: +4/+5 I will give it a slice provided that it only has one flat stat
Green a 5/6 will get one more slice if the other secondaries are good.
2 slices I'll take up again if +9/+10, 8 and below stay there.

Blue/purple need two slices and 9+ speed to slice
If three slices, we want 14+ speed.
Four slices but low speed, take it up anyways - it won't be a +25, but it will be a decent speed mod.

Taking a mod to six dot is very expensive. We don't want to six dot anything that we don't think it worth taking all the way to gold. You will see plenty of mods that you can afford to be selective here.

For gold to six dot, magic number is +14 on three slices
A +11 is probably also worth a shot.

For 6 dot upgrades, we've already filtered out the crap. So it's just allocating resources to the mods with the best chances of hitting +25 depending on how many thermals you have on a given day

My rules are similar enough:

(anything 1-4° is sold immediately)

5E - if <5 speed sell, if 5 speed slice.
5D - if <8 speed sell, if 9 speed slice. There are a couple 8 speed crit damage offense triangles left on rarely used characters.
5C - if <10 speed sell, if 10 speed (in 2) or 12 speed (in 3) slice.
5B - if 12+ speed slice (if might never go 6° but it will still be OK)
5A - if 15+ speed slice.

I generally take everything 6° up to 6C unless it’s obviously marginal (lots of flat stats, dubious primaries, etc) but it might as well go to 6D because I have 1000+ of those materials.

Thank you both! I probably should've asked this before getting rid of too many mods. I'll adjust my guide accordingly

If you are low on mods I would not sell just becuase it misses a threshold. Just don't spend mats on upgrades.
