Same. Mind you, if you can fit it, placing the lens over the left elbow and operating the camera with the right can help a lot with stabilization. Like cradling the camera. Yes, it does make it difficult to get a good view of what you are shooting, but whatever you do manage to hit, will be sharper (assuming it is in focus). And elbow support tires slower than hand-held support.

With a 2x crop factor / “digital teleconverter”

I could get 1200mm f6.3

And STILL be at 10.5MP

Which is higher than 4k monitors by quite a bit (2MP), and more than plenty for even 11x14 prints

This fixing a camera made me ponder the possibility of getting a non-working camera or lens for cheap, then fixing it up for use. I've done some electronics fixing before and thought it might be a way to save a little money when going to full-frame. What I have found is that broken gear is surprisingly difficult to find and even then the pricing is bizarre to my mind. For example, on MBP a used and slightly scuffed a7R II with a stuck shutter (which makes it fail to boot; marked as 'for spares and repair') goes for 400€. A brand new a7R II on Amazon goes for a little over 760€. Mind you, a "like new" used 7R II on MBP goes for over 960€. I feel like I do not understand camera pricing at all.

Plus, I'm more used to fixing electronics (headphones, cassette players, laptops), including soldering. Admittedly most modern camera/lens repairs look to be about some plastic bit breaking off or lens getting out of place/alignment or something growing in the lens as far as I've seen online.

Yeah those would be the Soviet ones here, not very exciting ones tbh. They were made to function and mass-produced, which on the one hand means they don't break easy, but it is also a lottery about what the final image result coming out of the camera will be. Similar to lomography (the technique, not the brand), but not quite as extreme.

I love the "Hi Alvin!" on both sheets and wish there could be a better way to highlight that and draw the eye in.

Might try doing leading lines.

MD 50/1.4 for $20!

And TWO lawsuit lenses! $20 each

The x300 kit was marked at $55 but worth like $160

and I got it for $25 because the lab guy likes my nerdiness

But the Korean X300 is rare (even if not particularly valuable)

It’s got a cool star logo which ended up being 1979 Samsung

you could probably get to the CBD from botany with around 20% more time than it would take to drive

parking in the city is an issue though. we're not really known for cheap parking in the city...

if you see there the areas around newtown are known to be a bit more.. wild. Just more nightlife and drunk people around
