I was a point-n-shoot (Canon Powershot) user for over a decade, now I have a good camera and I keep thinking what more lenses could I get. I mainly do photos when I travel, which is about twice a year. I can't carry many lenses with me for those travels. WHY THE F DO I WANT MORE LENSES?!

The only thing is that you get less angry at your gear because it’s literally top of the line, and even then I complain on how shit the Sony menus are

My inevitable conclusions/advice are:
-there will never be a perfect camera, there’s always stuff you’ll want/complain about
-even with the top of the line, you’re not necessarily taking better pictures, it’s just easing the process for whatever reason you upgraded

And you can eventually get sick of perfect razor sharp pictures, there’s a reason I bought a CCD camera in 2024, I just don’t take shots that look as natural on a modern mirrorless, it seems dull without a fuckton of editing

I know it sounds like a billionaire complaining about his golden palace and that it’s what every YouTuber tells you, but it’s just that gear doesn’t really matter much once you go past a certain point (depending on what you shoot of course, I’m sure sports photographers are happy with their 120fps Z9/R1/3

I found the part for $20. I'm going to attempt the repair myself. I hate to see the DSLR going to waste or collect dust. It's an old discontinued D3100 (I paid $350 from Costco years ago). I don't feel like spending over $400 for a used Camera. I rather spend for a new camera with warranty. I don't feel like paying over $700 - $3K for a new camera then the lens are just another expense on top.

Never owned one of these sweet things, but that is what the camera module would have looked like. With this, the phone would have a functional camera!

I've been looking at a Sigma lens that would be good for a single daily driver on travels, and it blows my mind how it is significantly cheaper on amazon than any local retailer with the main caveat being it is only cheaper when it is bundled with a lot of waste, basic trash like slow SD cards, foldable bags, low quality tripods (i.e. stuff that disintegrates in your hand) etc. Why does adding trash to the lens make it over 10% cheaper (as in, the total package with the trash is cheaper than the lens alone)?
