Right now, fishing is one of the most underwhelming activities because it doesn't bring anything exciting, nor does it feel rewarding enough.

A few possible changes that could improve fishing are:

  1. Turning fishing into an underwater dungeon where you cannot stay for too long.(And has ton of treasures)

  2. More craftables in the Alchemist that require fish, so fishing becomes more useful.

  3. Different fishes for flex or cosmetics.

If you all have ideas, please share them.

I'm personally against (2) making fishing more pivotol in its current form.

Like you say, it's not exciting right now, so making it a more required activity seems bad.

Though to be fair, I can't say I've played a game where fishing was actually made intrinsically fun.
As others have said, real-life fishing is fairly boring itself.

I think Stardew Valley is probably has one of the better fishing mini-games all things considered.

And in all honesty if the castle could have a moat/pond that we can fish in once a day. And the fishing hut had fishing competitions and a seasonal leaderboard.

The fishing hut needs a small revamp, aswell as more fish. Like for events with alternatives planes, we should be able to fish in areas with water. And fishing competitions should be based on those event fish. Random potions using fish, not just beast brews and icor.

Fishing isnt exciting or fun because current fishing = mats/scrolls which are much easier obtained doing literally anything els.

Most of the community even new players are too used to the grind to suddenly slow down and fish and fighting the same like 12 mobs.

Iv brought it up a few times, if fishing had a "dungeon" where essentially, you fish for key peices and a map, a week-long (from the point of finding the map) "dungeon" appears where you choose fish, or fight instead of horde boss ect.

Fight puts you in a abridged 5-10 floor dungeon filled with sea themed enemies, fishing dungeons "fight" has similar yeald to deep dungeons but better quality rolls, instead of 1-2 and the rest common, all rolls will be a famed or greater rarity, but will likely just be junk as usual lmao.

Fish opens you into the OG fishing bubbles minigame, where you fish until you find the boss monster of the dungeon.(ending your fishing encounter) Fishing for the boss, yealds literally anything eod(VERY LOW CHANCE) or random items as "junk" fish are bigger, and the boss itself when killed drops drasouri statue or Ulthier statue.

Drascouri Relic increases the chance of finding wells for 2 hours, also inc crit chance by 10%(stacks with thor)

Ulthier Relic reduces status effects by 10% and increasing coral gains by 5-25%(randomly) for 2 hours.
(Relics are essentially statues that are in inventory and can be used at will. Compared to statues that have set times the second they are obtained)

The dungeon could be using key & map in monuments guild forms a Dunegon Odie's Well. Once cleared the dungeon is over and must be fished again next week.

Or finding the map can spawn that dungeon into the world map for a week and players must walk to it to acess it. Once cleared the dungeon is over.

Due to fishing "dungeons" scaling off of Dispair and not geared or pointed for end game, its purposefully punishing for trying to meta grind it drops only include coral per mob, there is no special nor unique loot from mobs in fight dungeon, it essentially exists as i guess a high score because players like to flex their ability. However its so punishing that youre more likely to loose your run than reach floor 10 unless youre running it on 1 anguish at 10 AL.

Anyways either ^ this. Or refresh all fishing mobs, make a "fishing boss" that escapes battle and continues swimming around having to be fought multiple times and/or a seperate fishing boss that has a special attack where you start the og fishing minigame and if you fail to catch it you drown in the waves and your line breaks.

Theres so many ways to make it engaging. It just has yet to have been touched in a while.

Honestly id be happy if there was a minimum cast threshold for fishing line casts per quality level.

A single cast before breaking on a 500 coral Perfect Fishing Line is pretty much inexcusable

Yeah, that does suck.
I've lost multiple "perfect" fishing lines before even catching a single fish.

Maybe more fishing gear unlocked at higher guild level? Gear can increase odds of catching better fishes so it slowly shifts from getting unremarkable fish to more azure carps and better ones. Also random fights yield laughable amount of coral 🪸.
