I'm reviving this discussion after it ended up being dropped from the scope of the last balance patch.
-# In the spirit of the Dorado Dilemma I've made it alliterate.
Realmshifter Corvus is a neat concept that in practice ends up being worse than Base Realmshifter in nearly every regard.
Realmshifter Corvus gets the following over Base Realmshifter:
- Critical Chain, granting -10% crit damage but allowing to chain up to +100% crit damage
- Due to crit bonuses being multiplicative, this means chaining actually only goes to +80% damage
- The first hit does -10% damage compared to base RS, the second -1%, the third +8%, etc.
- +86 base dexterity
This is what RS Corvus loses compared to base RS to gain Crit Chain and 86 dexterity:
- Holy & Dark Immunity
- Recharge
- Saboteur II
- Grants increased ward damage and chance to cause t. Def
& t. Def
- Grants increased ward damage and chance to cause t. Def
- Realm's Light
- Grants +20% View Distance and a chance to cause Blind
- 1053 base HP
- 76 base mana
- 564 base ward
- 194 base attack
During that last beta, Odie considered adding Critical Poise to RS Corvus in exchange for Avidity, but from looking at the list of tradeoffs between base RS and Corvus I think it's fair to say that RS Corvus already gives up quite enough in exchange for hardly anything in return. Many people I've talked to in various Realmshifter chats don't realize that while Critical Chain is cool, the end result is that RS Corvus still ends up worse than Base RS almost anywhere you'd want to use chaining and the damage boost you get from critical chain is a fair bit worse that it seems from the initial description.
