As a reminder, do put bugs for this feature in #1097574048294260878 instead of here if you remember - makes bug smushing easier

The hype for the tower update made me hopeful

#

I would do many of them in future

desert venture
#

Man, I really should've said "can't you see I'm not walkin here?!" since you don't really walk anymore

Ill copy n paste my feedback here cuz why not

Tower Feedback

New Movement System:
Definetly something you have to get used to but it speeds up Tower clears by a lot and i mean A LOT. I only wish that you could engage tower guardian fights / ascending the tower / Puzzle Doors by the su arrow. That way all most all of the buttons i ever have to press in towers are on the bottom side of my screen, closer to my fingers. A bit wierd to explain it, but it allows for even lazier comfortable clearing.

New Layout:
Feels fresh and even quicker to manouvre through then the old one

Midtower raids:
Thank you for removing them i doubt anyone misses them.

I mean I can switch my pets any time in towers via the spells tab

Remember the whole tower dealie from towers beta still applies:

  • Towers, towers everywhere
  • 30m tower cooldowns
  • FREE KEYS CAN BE OBTAINED IN THE RUNESHOP (all runeshop purchases are free in beta)

Alright got my update

I wish we could click on the actual tower map to zap to the room closest to it, similar to the current system, just using the speed and static position of the new one, i dont like the overla joystick

minor palm

what's the blue pillars ?

#

TBH, I like the new layout, but I like the old movement more. The new one is confusing on my narrow screen.

#

I really like the new movements but I would like an option to switch pad and menus without having to enable left-hand controls every time I enter a tower

compact anvil
#

I don’t see us adding an option on top of the option, to be honest

Left side movement, right side camera is fairly common

floral halo
#

The problem is having to switch back for every other content, i usually play only with my right hand and I have short thumbs lol

midnight moss
#

The one reason I see having the option is that many people play right handed and play with one hand while doing other things. I found it a bit awkward personally. Not end of world, just feedback :3

The tower movement change is great QoL.

#

My favorite part is when your pet has to scramble in between screens to catch up. The new bouncing pet movement animation made me chuckle.

#

remove the camera lock would be great.

novel smelt
#

You can move the camera, mind elaborating?

#

Currently the camera is able to be panned, and then can be re-centered using the middle button in the D-Pad

balmy atlas
#

I like it on the left - very SNES and Gameboy.

#

Well , let’s say, a fair bit of tower time was spent traveling, even after the original movement buff

#

Someone said 40% of time was spent in battle and 60% traveling. Take those as rough ballparks to give you a sense, not precise timings. You can see how the new system will be an improvement

I liked them, kraid mats a decent amount of the time. Star lord and dracon

Ah, fair

desert venture
#

Mid raids tended to be awkward (at least in my experience) when you're built for horde encounters, necessitating a spec swap, build swap, pet swap, or combination thereof, and then again to go back to horde afterwards. They were alright and not really an issue if they were Dracon or Fomor, since those required little thought, but the others definitely needed a change if you didn't want to awkwardly meagre through it

safe yoke
#

I actually do like mid tower raids as they all offer valuable materials (platinum, solarite, greater souls etc)

#

Considering we have sped up towers considerably maybe it’s not a big deal to have you pause and think about your encounter

#

My dorado build has templates for running many different combos of immunity gear to handle different mob packs. Assess which boss pack I want take down and do a quick template swap to the appropriate gear - including the raids

#

But not a big deal to see them go

cunning mason
#

I am very glad the mid raid fight has been shot into the sun. May it never return

compact anvil
#

we're currently making them 4 times as long, but had some difficulty programming it. so, they're temporarily turned off but will be back soon! longer than ever

robust eagle
radiant silo
#

4 times longer? Ooh nice, now gives us some raid mats and drops too.

Other opinion: I actually liked walking "slowly" through the floors of the towers. It positively decelerated the game for me. There was something relaxing about exploring the rooms with the quieter music. I was hoping that maybe some surprise events would pop up. But that's another topic.

I like the new buttons, they have a retro gameboy vibe to them.

Could you maybe make it so that you can switch from teleport movement to normal movement?

plain cloak
#

I think I'll end up preferring the teleport movement overall, though I feel like the older system could've worked with further tweaking. Maybe even more sped up, and definitely less dead ends. More often than not I chose to take the first exit up the tower I saw cause too often would I go down a hallway of rooms and find nothing

#

Not very fun to go down a long hallway of 3-4 rooms with no exits, get to the end, and nothing is there so I gotta go aaaaaaaaaallllllllll the way back

honest sparrow
#

Agreed

#

faster movement + ability to zoom in and out + smaller floors would work just fine as well imo

minor palm
#

After some more testing, I'll keep my first impression. For me, the new movement system doesn't feel great on smartphones with high ratio (near 2).

compact anvil
#

is that altered DPI? what doesn't feel great?

minor palm
#

I don't see what's on the side, could be better if I could zoom out

#

with the old system it was easier to visualize my position, but with the new one the teleportation get me lost if it's on the side.
It's especially true for wide room that doesn't fit in my screen.
Don't get me wrong, it's still playable, previous one felt better for me.
this weird feeling is only really present with wide rooms, and it seem to be a me problem. Maybe I just need time to adapt.

PS : no altered DPI

#

this one is a good exemple. i can't see left, I can't see right. With old system I would just walk left too see, be now I've to leave the D-pad, scroll left, then come back. Doesn't feel smooth.

compact anvil
#

there's nothing to see left of you though, these new floors won't have anything in the places you cannot move to

minor palm
#

Yes, it just feels weird to not see the edges of the map. It's not much and the more I play the more I can ignore it.
Just out of curiosity, why did you prefered a d-pad teleportation over a free target teleportation ?

compact anvil
#

dpad is faster, as it's mashable (and forced to be accurate)

grand pumice
#

I always wonder if a mob has wandered over there, which is why I check

#

Would hate to miss a stray key gaurdian

compact anvil
#

camera can still be panned enough though, no?

grand pumice
#

Yes

minor palm
#

In some rooms I can't see the edge even after I panned

#

but it's like 1 or 2 rooms in the entire tower layers
