I posted this on the subreddit last week but the question has been occupying the back of my mind since then and I thought I'd ask here.

I saw someone saying "since leopard geckos are insectivores, they need to be checked for parasites every 6 months" and that raised the question in my mind: is this really necessary? Do geckos need annual or bi annual checkups at the vet?

Again. Like I said I got mixed answers. Some people said you should take your reptile to the vet when you first get them to have them get checked out and so that they are on file if they ever do really need to go to the vet. Is this the case and should I book a vet appointment for Comet, or would it be a waste of time and money?

no leopard geckos do not need annual or bi annual checkups.

some people here do yearly checkups or send in fecals. but vet visits are stressful. if there isn't anything inherently wrong with your animal there is no reason to be putting them through that stress.
