if drainage layers aren’t recommended for leopard gecko enclosures since leopard geckos like to dig, do boston ferns not need one in a leopard gecko enclosure?

its not that drainage layers arent recommended, just that theyre unnecessary since the tank isnt being misted as often as it would be in tropical setups/the soil isnt as consistently damp. plus in tanks with lower sub barriers a drainage layer would hog the space a leo might wanna use to dig

if youre only gonna be deepwatering the plant once a week i still dont see the need for a drainage layer

but i am not plant qa and dont know what boston ferns need lmfao
