#Does my Geckos need Heat lamps?

nqa but yes, they need it. they have a day and night cycle, they need 12 hours on and 12 hours off of light and most heat lamps to my knowledge provide that. honestly in the summer it still gets hot enough here but i use my heat lamp since it’s what’s recommended. make sure you monitor the hot and cold side and basking spot at all times with the temperature just in case it gets too hot and you need to lower your wattage.
a temperature gradient ( !tempgradient ) is needed so they can thermoregulate themselves properly. not all heat is the same, also. incandescent/halogen bulbs provide the proper IR wavelengths that aid in digestion, appetite, and overall health. if your room is too hot for a heat source i would look into room cooling methods so you can provide a proper gradient.
also take a read of the !guide for overall husbandry
the ambient temperature may be appropriate but they need a heat source so they can have a designated basking area, which cannot be achieved indoors
So.. I got the heat lamp but when I turn it on they all go inside their hides on the cold side
Am I doing something wrong? They come out when I turn it off
could we see your set up?
Some geckos need time to adjust to something new. Are you housing multiple leopard geckos in one enclosure? We don’t recommend cohabbing because it’s a risk of injury and malnutrition. Here’s some info on it. !cohab
