My gecko hasn't been sleeping in his hides

My gecko yeti hasn't been sleeping in his hides ever since I put the new substrate in. He has never had actual soil before so he might be stressed due to the changes. I'm just wondering if this behavior is normal after new substrate

He's fine, he may just take some time to adjust

Mine used to sleep outside her hide all the time before I upgraded her to bioactive with UVB

She’s awake here but she was asleep before the picture was taken
