#Sudden Shyness?

87 Hot, 76 Cold, 80 Mid are the ambients, the basking surface has been sitting between 99 to 102. Humidity I've been trying to keep on the higher end of 40%-50%
Last feeding was 4 days ago, about 8 fat mealies
Sounds like he's about to shed to me (especially with your description of his skin)
I've noticed they tend to get more reclusive and act differently when they're about to shed
So shedding causes... Okay cool, I'll wait it out and see.
It'll be my first shed with him, so I got pretty nervous with the new behaviours.
I'll wait till his old vibrant colours come back to see if it's complete, but how should I go about checking if it's complete? I've not been able to... Properly get into consent/tolerating levels with Soot to check his toes properly 😅
Yeah, especially if you're visibly seeing the pale ashy skin I would just monitor him until after the shed. Notably the day after the shed my leo is still a bit reclusive (I think shedding must take a lot of energy out of them), but then she resumes her normal patterns.
You can just look at his toes when he's out and about next (or just lift the hide and take a peek if he's hiding), I don't think you need to pick him up or anything to look for stuck shed
Alrighty, I was thinking about the worst cases and there is stuck there. I'd have to transfer him for the sauna process
He's most likely hating on me for doing this, but I had to get shots with light to check if any stuck molt is present. Couldn't get a clear shot on his front left leg...
But from the side we can see, it looks successful no?
Looks fine to me personally. Great work little man!
Got a shot of the left side! I never noticed his back left door being so... Red? Toes are white though like the rest.
oh that toe looks like its got some shed on it
very back one
unsure if its just the claw or the toe tip
The white tip yeah?
yee
Imma take a closer look to see when I get home. How do I know it's actually a stuck shed?
itll look like a clear layer wrapping around the tip of the toe
like youll be able to see where the extra skin begins
If it's confirmed to be stuck shed, gotta prepare a sauna yeah?
ye
Hopefully it's just the claws being extra shiny or the phone's flash making it look white.
I really don't want to forcefully handle him just yet and spook/traumatize him if possible.
looks like it yeah
Phuck... Alright how do I go about getting him into the sauna? The least stressful way if he ain't used to handling?
youre gonna have to scoop him from underneath
