I’ve been dropping mealworms in and making sure she finds and eats them, but I noticed some people have been feeding directly with tongs/soft tweezers. Is there a benefit to feeding like that? Does it help build trust or something?

easier to make sure the feeders aren't getting away , a bit more contact with the animal yeh, control over it 😮
my geckos know to follow the tongs around
