Forgot what I was putting hah
He isn't tame as I only got him a few days ago from my mums friend she never touched him so he's a wiggly boy too and I'm scared of him dropping his tail

how are you trying to give the eyedrops?

Just trying to put them on the line of the eye part but it just rolls straight off

#

The thing comes in a little bottle with a small nosel so it's not too hard to get it along the eye but once he feels something on his face he trys to get away

how are you holding him to do so?

I'm still pretty scared to hold him since I'm not too used to them myself and I've seen alot about them dropping their tails but I've tried putting him on my chest while trying to hold him still

So, you’re going to need to hold him. Giving necessary medications will always go over leo comfort, it is for his own well-being

Okay how about getting the eye drops into his eyes if he keeps them closed though?

NQA Scoop up leo carefully, let it crawl around on ur hands and arms for a bit to explore and be less afraid , then to hold him (always do so by scooping up not grabbing) get your dominant hand’s fingers under his belly and have your thumb above his head & neck but NOT pressing on him. NO pressure should be applied anywhere in this hold (but it should be very enclosed), and it should have him angled up so it is like he is almost standing. Make sure his feet are on your fingers not dangling. The back is an alarming spot for many geckos so expect him to arch it if you graze him there. Especially don’t pressure his lung area but y’kno ig that’s obvious

#

Note If he squirms a lot and thrashes his head, open ur hand let him crawl off and let him rest a bit before handling him again (letting him explore again before holding securely). Forcing an increasingly stressed leo into interaction for prolonged time is not going to get him used to it, and u will need to do this three times a day, so a one-n-done scary azz forceful experience isn’t a good idea even if it has to be in other medical situations.

It’s best to have him gently turned on his side for the eyedrops, drip it as soon as you’ve got it aligned and his eye is open. Let him blink before setting him down immediately after as a “good job, that’s all you had to endure.”
I don’t have tips on him shutting his eye, srry. Ask a vet for advice if his eye is stuck shut. I wouldn’t try to force it open, like straight up would not try that. Best u can do is wait for the opportunity maybe have him get comfortable with opening his eye while the eye dropper is above him by not dripping it yet for a bit, or utilize non-alarming visual stimulus in his surroundings to try and get attention maybe, like turning the light off and seeing if he notices. I’ve also regularly medicated four different cats and easing stress from the start is very important if the medication is a repeated thing. If it was a one-off thing, then it could be spared the easing-into, but you said three times a day holy moly. Please be patient very patient, always gentle but firm when needed never change your level of force based on frustration, be slow in movement up until the swift delivery of eyedrop, and KEEP TRYING. I hope the best for you and your gecko
