#How far away does a UVB and Halogen have to be?

Assuming your tank is a standard 36x18x18--
Halogen: however far enough away that you're reaching basking temperatures and proper ambients. Dimming thermostat or dimming dome helps with this. 50W is a little low, if you're having trouble getting up to temperatures this way I would move up to 75W.
UVB: There should be a diagram on the side of the box (and arcadia has a diagram online, not sure if that's just specific to arcadia bulbs) showing how far it should be from the basking spot. I think it's usually between 6-12 inches-- if you have a standard 18 inch tall tank with 3-6 inches of substrate, you should be fine just putting it up on top of the mesh.
that is not the correct uvb bulb, you want a linear uvb
Just want to let you know that we don’t recommend those types of bulbs. Instead I suggest the ReptiSun 5.0! Those compact bulbs have very poor diffusion
check our !shoppinglist :)
once you figure out what type of uvb youll be using, let me know of your enclosure type and i can tell you how much uvb will be filtered out and what the uvi will be in your setup
Your UVB and heat bulbs need to both be on the basking side
And yes, some plants are sensitive to UVB, however, the plants recommended for leopard geckos enjoy full sun drier conditions so they don’t react as severely as some other plants
what brand mesh is it
different types filter out different amounts
some 20 some 30 some even 60
thats a 30% block. id recommend the arcadia 7% shadedweller then. itll be at the higher end of ferguson zone 1, the zone leos are in at 10 inches away above the mesh
it would be out of ferguson zone 1 so you could raise the uvb an inch or two. how tall is your enclosure? they should have more than 8.5 inches of space for climbing enrichment
i mean like the basking spot, not your decor. just maybe dont put the uvb directly over where its 8.5 inches from it then
the 7% shadedweller is 12 inches long
12 inches
