#Best dimming thermostat?

there are two brands you can buy dimming thermostats from, herpstat and exo terra. check !shoppinglist, they should both be linked there!
LED and UVB are usually not dimmable. there’s an LED brand that can be dimmed (nicrew which is highly recommend) but it’s with their own timer and cannot be used with a thermostat. thermostats are only for heat sources
they don’t turn them off, but you’d put all heating/lighting equipment on a timer anyway for convenience’s sake
usually you do 12 hours on and 12 hours off
The herpstat [US dimming thermostat] can turn off the bulb at certain times. You just have to set it to a certain temp so it doesn’t need to turn on.
Like my thermostat is on 24/7
I’m not sure
I never went with an exo terra. I always went with the herpstat because it’s a small business and I love the features.
they don't have the same settings
they're both dimming stats but they have different settings
i second herpstat
My herpstat has never done that
the only time it’s adjusted is if I leave the door open for too long and let cold air directly touch the basking spot since mine are at the front
no it just turns on at all once. it also has to be said that the set-up in the video is not ideal as the bulb is too close to the probe and the probe needs to be outside the radius of them beam
a dimming thermostat or any type of dimming function does dim the bulb yeah but it shouldnt be doing what is happening in the video really often or you likely have a probe misplacement or some other sort of issue like spinch said. you also dont want your bulb too dimmed down to the point your halogen light is dull as that will disrupt their ir wavelengths
posting this here so i won’t forget
