Hi, quick question I’m just wondering how I could keep the Temp probe for thermostat stuck into one place (the basking spot)

As I am going to be making a new enclosure soon so switching from a heat mat to lamp;

Also, anyone got links etc for good lamp/fitting etc / thermostats

Cheers

A lot of people place the probe under a rock, as many use slate/stone basking areas (good for retaining heat!). Rocks can hold the probe in place

That’s a good idea yeah I’ll probably be doing that . My Leo has a tendency to dig more than a jcb so

  • , the tank I’m looking at is 45cm deep, and the only place I have to put it is 40cm deep? Will the 5cm overhang matter much ?

Hmmm... not sure personally but I know a few people have tanks on racks/tables with a little overhang and it's fine. As long as it's even in the front and the back so everything is balanced 5cm shouldn't be that much

#

Someone else with overhang on the tank might have some thoughts wat

Yeah would just be the front

#

I guess it would give my Leo a nice view

Is that shopping list suitable for UK by the way ?

Yes! There is a section specifically for the UK curated by UK members.

Nice one thanks I’ll save that

Looks like coil UVB bulbs, which have a spotty output. You want a linear bulb, like Arcadia shadedweller kits (should also be in the shopping list)

Alright Ty yeah

#

I’m using a Arcadia one atm but it’s only 50cm long , does it need to be any bigger for a 90cm Viv? Or shall I stick with what I have ? Cheers

I think that should be fine, usually you just put the UVB on the same side as the heat lamp. I think mine covers a little under half the tank as well
