Maulers could’ve had a better backstory. They live in the deserts but their harsh environment breeds not only strong and warrior like people but also compassionate and heavily community based. Survival together is key and yes, there are disagreements and differences but they still have a strong sense of community and the majority come together to oppose those that seek to exploit them and invade their homeland. (And that’s me not addressing the slavery issue. That one goes with my Colonizer Lightbearer headcannons I have where certain more corrupted members are introduced to the concept of slavery and that is what gave rise to it in Mauler society. Only to then spark a revolution where I imagine Khasos leading it to change their society for the better and bring down the slavemasters who dare bring discourse within their society)
And that’s my Mauler Revolution headcannon. It’s not all there. But I prefer that over canon.

There is the scheme with interrelations between heroes, so there is pointed out that Baden is Estrilda's Uncle..? Can anybody explain this?

The English lore really, really makes it sound like Baden is her dad, I agree. The eyes comparison, the ability for Baden’s, Thane’s, and Estrilda’s lore to allow for Baden’s time of death and Baron Rayne’s time of death to overlap, and the fact that Baron and Lord can be interchangeable titles for a Baron (Baden was referred to as Lord Rayne, and “head of the house”, implying he is the Baron) make the lore intuitively suggest that Baron Rayne and Lord Baden Rayne are one and the same.
The arguments against that being the case are:
- the writer didn't explicitly use the title “Baron” and call Baden “Baron Rayne”
- Jakub assures us that they are intended to be different people (I assume he got his info directly from the writer/ narrative designer responsible for the lore, but if you want to be pedantic, you COULD argue that since this information isn't explicitly written in the lore text itself, it can technically be disregarded)
- the Chinese translation (while not the true canon) changes the timeline so Baron Rayne dies when Estrilda was 10, in the skirmish that wiped out the male Raynes (placing his death long after Baden’s , potentially meaning that Baden was the elder brother and was Baron first, then Baron Rayne succeeded him after his death, making the title of “lord” and “head of the house” make sense.) While the Chinese lore isn’t supposed to be used as a metric for judging this, I assume that the translation is meant to be close enough to the original that slight changes would be keeping the intent of the true canon in mind, so the much larger disparity in the timeline seems suggestive of Baden and the Baron being two different people
It has also been argued that Baden and the Baron could have been similar looking, making Estrilda resemble both of them. (Anecdotally- my own cousin (via maternal uncle) looks exactly like my mom did when she was my cousin’s age)
I personally like to think Baden is her dad, based on the lore’s wording, but the powers that be have declared that non canon
Oh I forgot another argument against them being the same person- Baron Rayne was a general. Nothing in Thane or Baden’s lore suggests Baden was ever a general

If you've seen my original version of the relationship tree on Reddit, you can see that I labeled Baden as Estrilda's dad, since I based my tree solely on the lore. You can also see that redditors in the AFK community who commented that this was incorrect were downvoted into oblivion, so the Uncle vs Dad is a very contentious subject here.
Hell, I even made a diagram similar to yours @leaden bloom, arguing why I thought Baden was Estrilda's dad, but decided not to post it after talking to Jakub about the lore. Actually, I never deleted it, and since I put time into it, I might as well post it anyway,since it points out how a reader could interpret the lore as establishing Baden as Estridla's father

From what I understand of it, Estrilda's father was the first Baron of House Rayne. In his death due to war, Baden took the position of Baron, due to his high standing in his House (being former baron's brother after all). When Baden died, along with other Raynes, Estrilda took position as Baroness.

The last sentence is a little off. Thane's lore establishes that he became Castellan after Baden died, and the rest of the Raynes died after Thane become Castellan. And apparently House Rayne only considered male heirs, since they said there was no heir, despite Estrilda clearly being a potential heir

That's a fair point. It may not have been Estrilda though, since she is described as the youngest. It doesn't specify if she is the only daughter, and therefore the sole remaining heir after the death of her brothers, or if some other, older daughters are included among her siblings. There is also the potential for her mother to still hold the title of Baroness, if she is still alive

On the subject of the nobility, it's strongly suggested that Count Vedan sent Silvina to assassinate Baron Rayne. The question is, why? I doubt it had anything to do with his position in line for the throne, since Baron is the lowest tier in nobility, and a Count is very high. I wonder what he did to piss Vedan off

Regarding the timelines, the only timeline we can really establish between Raynes and Graveborn is based off the fact that Silvina, Baron Rayne, and Estrilda crossed paths. Knowing Silvina was still alive gives us an approximate timeline for Baden, Thane, Estrilda, Isabella, Vedan, and Silvina. We should be able to assume all Maulers, Wilders, and Lightbearers are contemporaries, and some Celestials and Hypogeans can have their timelines approximated based on interactions with Dura and characters from the aforementioned factions, but most of the Graveborn could be from any time. We don't know which wars Ferael, Niru, and Izold fought in, Thoran and Grezhul are probably ancient, we don't know how long Seirus has existed, so Nara's timeline is difficult to place, and House Rayne is so old, we can't reliably place Kelthur.

Fair points, though i do feel that Grezhul and Thoran are more recent than one may think. The Bantus Empire was long ago, but if I remember correctly, Thoran's visions for the empire were good, until he was ressurected. Thoran was also the reason of the Graveborn fleet growing extremely fast. Since the general area of dominance (King's Manse, Abandoned Port, Isle of the Banished, Mire Town(?)) feels relatively small for a zombie fleet, his ressurection may be at the very least two generations old.

Warek’s retcon seems ...calculated. The story is fundamentally unchanged but the details are vaguer and the bears are still enslaved rather than Warek earning his people’s freedom already. This helps Tidus’ lore fit a little better since if Warek were already free, that means Tidus has failed his goal of killing Warek, but that seems too insignificant to warrant such a drastic change in the fate of the bear clans. I’m thinking more pit fighters are in the works
Also, regarding yesterday’s wilder and LB conversation, wilders mostly keep to themselves. Recall that where they live is protected by a glamor that keeps them hidden, and it is a general unspoken rule to not leave the safety of the forest. Of course, adventurer characters like Eirron, Kaz, Lorsan, and (technically, based on Dolly’s tavern gossip) Solise have left, but the lore makes it clear that leaving is a big deal. Yggdrasil itself is rumored to have been planted by Dura to give the Wilders a safe haven. This implies that the other factions, including ancestral LBs, weren’t all that friendly to them.

Synopsis: In this AU Annih releases a daemon that manifests in the form of a desert separating the Maulers, Lightbearers, and Wilders. The daemon brings out the most destructive traits of the factions, causing them to war. Eventually, the Wilders and Lightbearers ally, but the Maulers have been especially corrupted by the desert of the daemon. So basically Wilder and LB ally against Mauler but to dispel the daemon and erase the desert separating them, the factions must stop warring and ally.

Personally, I think that it makes sense. A peaceful, analytical opponent can easily be bumrushed by a blind idiot with nothing but bloodthirst.
I'm a boxer in real life which is a fairly calculated martial art, but if a drunk dude was running at me with a knife, I'd probably be really intimidated and a single moment of hesitation to think about what the best move is could be costly.
And it seems that because of the whole predator prey thing, that's likely going to be the usual outcome.
