This ensures that upon reaching command positions (usually within a short span of years thanks to the massive head start the boys receive at Castle Rayne), the future lords and knights of House Rayne have a complete understanding of the entire chain of command.
He got to know his comrades, men from all walks of life, in barracks and taverns, but it was on the sparring ground that he made a true friend. Thane was the best swordsman he had ever seen, surpassing even the swiftest blades of his family's men at arms. Thane was glad to finally have spirited competition, Baden was happy at a chance to continue improving his skills, and they got along well from the start.

I wondered why some faction are good some others but get curb stomped by other factions?
Lightbearers: Human based faction (for now at least)
Maulers: Savage and Feral based faction.
Wilders: Fairytale and forest creatures based faction.
Graveborns: Dead and cursed beings based faction.
I assumed the following:
-Lightbearers can put up a decent fight against Maulers because of their wits and most of them have the power to back up their honorable traits compared to Maulers pragmatic fights.
-As stated above, Maulers pragmatic tactics and savage methods makes Wilders very afraid of them and can’t put up against their savagery.
-Wilders somehow pose as an antithesis against Graveborn and acts as a good counterpart against Graveborn, either purifying them or cripple their evil nature.
-Most Graveborn heroes have been a human before they met their end and somehow they became worse for wear, Niru and Shemira were humans before they died and became undead, so they became a virus to humans making them a formidable faction against Lightbearers.
What do you think of my theory?
