So hours later, the duck wakes up tied to barrel ready to be roasted on a fire because Mauler hunters had found the duck while he was asleep.

Okay, so it fell out and Rowan would not have gone looking for it because he had no clue the duck was missing, so how did the duck survive

After a few minutes rowan notices the duck is missing.

So the maulers all abandoned their camp

Fortunately he was able to rescue his duck before the maulers came back

The maulers were drunk, okay

They were hunting while drunk

So they forgot to place guards in their encampment

And rowan snuck in to get his duck

And now the duck is scared of both Tasi and Maulers

Tasi put the duck to sleep to see if she could, Rowan stuffed him into his already full pack, dropped him without knowing, realised he dropped him within minutes and was able to track down where the Mauler hunters had taken him and they had in that short time tied him up and abandoned the camp to hunt more (because they were drunk) and Rowan snuck in and yeeted himself and his duck away

Is that right?
