I think Khasos is supposed to be a cross between a jackel and a hyena and not based on one specific species. Skreg’s lore mentions a Latran, a jackel-headed mauler species, and khasos is kind of Anubis-looking. In the Chinese translation- the word used for Latran is translated to “gnoll” -a hyena hybrid species in DND. Khasos also has some hyena like spots on his face and arm, and a squashed hyena-like face. The ears are too long for a hyena, but the dark markings on the tip are reminiscent of a hyena’s darker ears. I think he’s basically a gnoll with jackel ears.
