After Belinda and Khasos'... reunion, he wandered Esperia, searching for help with his affliction through any means. Surprisingly, Belinda did the same. They searched far and wide, from Ranhorn to the Forgotten Port. Yet, after weeks of searching, neither had found anything.

Considering where the battle had been, Khasos wondered where he would end up first--a stray Mauler camp? The great forests of the Wilders? A Lightbearer village? The likely abandoned remnants of the war camp, his tent and few belongings probably packed and...what would they have done with it? Most belongings were burned so as not to be a burden on the movement of the army--in some cases, some things were saved for those close to the deceased but in general Maulers were not sentimental. But the Lightbearers had made camp with them. Would Belinda claim his belongings? Would Brutus allow himself the luxury of a memento? His scarf was gone, one of his axes missing, his coat torn. His belongings had likely been burned. He couldn’t return to the Maulers like this. He couldn’t return to Bel like this. He’d never curl in her lap, never scent her neck, never drown in her kisses again. He’d never spar with Brutus again, nor would he shove away the familiar, fond hand on his shoulder.
Why would anyone come back to life, at the expense of losing everything that was his life?
