I'm thinking Garion was like a tribe's ambassador and in an attempt to he diplomatic with the Lightbearers, they turned on him and used him to get close to his tribe by a very, very cruel commander. His tribe was slaughtered and they left him tied to something in the middle of his tribe's ruins and he died slowly, cursing and screaming at the Lightbearers who did this, and when he was brought back he went on a tear and absolutely destroyed the squadron who killed his tribe. He doesn't necessarily hold a grudge against ALL Lightbearers, but he comes pretty dang close.

@tight dove I find the trick with deer legs is that the Knee (joint 2) isn't always super obvious and a lot of beginners get lost trying to find the hip/knee distance

and it ends up looking awkward because the hip is trying to be the knee or vice versa

They're more dynamic because while there are the same amount of joints, there's more between each one, giving the ability for more dramatic movement within anatomical boundaries. It's really nice.

The stranger graveborn is an interesting choice, but there's really no detail. What motivation did they have for raising him and then just leaving him?

The Graveborn are mostly about ambition and anger, I feel like (and this is totally just me, feel free to reject this he's your OC) he might fit along better if his anger had developed before death.

Could either A. give a graveborn necromancer the encouragement to raise him or

B. let him be revived on his own if the Graveborn wants him. Some Graveborn bring themselves back through sheer anger (see: Grezhul) and a deal with the Graveborn.

Sorry if I'm being confusing here, going by some lore the Graveborn appears to be both the faction and an entity of itself, specially in Niru and Grezhul's backstories.

Also in his origin it might help to throw in some placeholder names until you figure out more of what his old home used to be, but that's personal preference.

Short version: Because he smokes, LOL.

Long version: Uh, it's kind of a big deal in his backstory, the concept of breath. Even though he died of starvation and exposure, his tribe was slaughtered and burnt to the ground, him left tied up in the middle of it all as some kind of like warning to other Maulers, the taste of smoke and ash always in his mouth because of the fires. With his last breath he screamed for vengeance until he passed. A few days later he came back, poisonous smoke billowing from his lungs before he attacked the Lightbringer squadron that destroyed his tribe's home.

And I think it would make the graveborn idea of being stronger after death, and the threat of death/death not offering a release/or being your final grandest failure more weight.. so far all the Graveborne are ex Lightbringers . . . Which kinda points something being super special about them.. almost like a super natural eugenics club.. will only a few exceptions all the worth while are Nobility of some sort or highly educated.

Hey I just read back a little but there is at least one instance of a GB doing something selfless; Niru.

(Insert lack of shock)

In Shemira's story, he tells her, in no uncertain terms, that he is there to save Silvestre. And then tells her they can be together. Could it be read with ulterior motive? Sure. But it's not explicitly so. I think the Graveborn are capable of a full range of emotion, BUT anger and hatred become disproportionately apparent.
