Hey everyone! 24M Norwegian here looking for 1 climbing partner for Mt. Fuji THIS MONDAY (September 8th). I know it's super short notice, but I was originally booked for Friday and had to reschedule due to the typhoon!

The Situation:
I currently have a mountain hut already booked for 2 people (just missing 1 person). Would love some company for this epic adventure!

The Plan:

• Depart early Monday morning from Tokyo
• Take direct bus to Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station (Yoshida Trail)
• Start climbing midday, reach mountain hut by afternoon
• Hot meal provided at the hut, get some sleep
• Wake up ~3-4am to push for summit and catch sunrise from the top!

What's the hourly itinerary and how hot will the weather be?

Good physical strength and endurance is definitely needed, but we’re doing this relatively chill since it’s spread over two days with an overnight rest. That said, it’s no joke - 6+ hours hiking to 3,776m elevation with rocky terrain and altitude effects. The two-day approach makes it much more manageable than bullet climbing!

So my plan is to depart from Tokyo shinjuku at around 7:30 or 8:00, then start climbing around 11:30-12. Reach hut around 17 hopefully for dinner at 18 (provided by hut, vegetarian options available). Then try to sleep and relax. Wake up at like 2 am ish and push for summit in the dark (headlamps needed) to watch sunrise from top. It will be around 28°C and partly cloudy last time I checked but i don’t know how reliable the forecast is.

If you don’t have proper hiking gear, full rental sets available for ~¥8,000-12,000 including waterproof jacket/pants, hiking boots, backpack, headlamp, warm clothes, etc.

Essential Equipment (I think they check when entering and refuse entry if missing this):
• Sturdy hiking boots (waterproof)
• Rain jacket & pants (Gore-Tex preferred)
• Backpack (25L+ capacity)
• Warm clothes (fleece/thermal layers)
• Gloves and warm hat
• Headlamp or flashlight
• Trekking poles
• High-energy snacks
• Water bottle (2-3L total needed)
• Sunscreen & sunglasses
• Cash (mountain huts only accept cash)
