Okay, I might be a bit early... but can you blame me? 😂 I’m heading to Tokyo for the first time in late October and I’m already beyond excited! 🇯🇵✨

Since I’ll be traveling for the first time, I thought I’d start connecting with some people early – whether you’re a fellow traveler, an expat, or a local who enjoys meeting new people! Would love to hear your favorite spots, must-visit places, or even random Tokyo hacks that made your trip easier (because let’s be real, I’ll probably get lost at least once in Shinjuku Station 🤡).

It is never too early I would say. Just came back from my first lesson Japanese, travelling through Japan from September til October and then afterwards Korea looking so forward to 3 months of travelling and sightseeing. For me it will be from Tokyo and ending in Fukuoka in the West. So our schedules do not match.

Never too early! Haha - I've had my trip in the works (figuring out hotels and itinerary) since January 2024! My husband and I (both mid 40's) will be in Japan from Oct 9-Nov 10 2025.

We'll be in:

Hiroshima: 10-14
Osaka/Kyoto: 15-20
Takayama: 21-23
Kanazawa: 24-28
Tokyo: 29-Nov 3
Nikko: 4-6
Tokyo: 7-10

Nagasaki 19-24 Oct (As a Dutchie just have to visit)

That is my schedule for now, but want to remain flexible so days could still alter 🙂

Hello! I thought I'd pop in and say that I'll be in Tokyo from Oct 19th to Nov 2nd. This will be my second trip to Japan and first solo trip here. I'm setting my base around Shinjuku, Akihabara and Asakusa at various hostels. I'll be taking my time shopping, eating, and exploring the different parts of Tokyo.

From what I've heard from other people it's best time pick a place that you plan on ending up at night the most often due to trains stopping by midnight and crazy expensive taxi prices

I originally reserved a bunch of hostels to be more social but I just also booked a solo airbnb for a little bit more for more comfort. I have free cancellation on both so I can just adjust accordingly

Potentially similar to India where live starts early every day at 6 and ends at the latest towards 10 in the evening. So you just had to be there early onwards.

Booked myself some sotetsu Fresa budget hotels. prefer some private space from time to time 🙂

I planned our October trip back in December. Me and my wife will be in Tokyo from the 13th to the 24th. Never too early to plan. Planning late would be any problem. 😅 Slowly building an intinerary, but will be based in Akihabara. I know my first day will be in Shibuya for a tattoo. Depending on your interests, maybe we could help eachother out with things to do. I have things picked out that would be interesting and would need to guesstimate how long these activities take and fit them into the days.

ATM I only really want to plan mine in terms of things and places I’d like to see, and let my days in each city/area come together by picking an attraction or two and just moving about my day between them

I'm pretty much doing as you are. I research and pick highlights from different areas. I know already that Day 1 (first full day) is in Shinuya for tattoo. It will take most of the day. Then explore the area afterwards. The scramble, Don qi, dinner. More than likely back to Shibuya and Shinjuku for the mall. I want to go to Capcom, Nintendo and Pokemon Centers. Check out the mall some more then explore Shinjuku. Should be a full day. After that I have teamLab Planets on list and surrounding area. Akihabara and Asakusa. Ueno Park. A zoo or aquarium if one there. I know one day will include go-karting excursion that starts in Asakusa. Unko Museum. Building this itinerary will be a task. 🙃

It is early indeed, but I like to catch things when first available so I don't miss out. Secure things along the way while I budget out the trip. As the ole saying goes, better early than late. I did start something way early that's unrelated though. My plants for my garden. Growing like crazy!

I'm doing roughly the same thing. I'm using the free version of the app Wanderlog to bookmark all the spots I potentially would like to see while in Tokyo. I'll have one or two main points of interest each day but will check the app to see what else is in the area and play it by ear. Most of my points of interest are food/shopping related though 😂

Hey guys! Originally was supposed to be an awesome group trip but eventually all backed out and now im doing solo in Japan. So far im booking Kyudo experience (japanese archery arts) in Nara and also Nara Park for DEERS, Arashiyama boat ride/tram and planning to rent a motorcycle to ride around scenic areas and mountains. Thats the plan i have so far (whihc is quite little for 2 weeks). It'll be nice to travel a few places with someone or even a group. I like to take pics and vids to make a montage out of it and post in my Instagram, i like to document part of my life haha. But srsly, i might actually mentally die if im alone in places meant for friends and big grps of ppl.

Ghibli Museum tickets are notoriously hard to purchase as an overseas tourist. It involves an online queue and lots of good luck. Not impossible, but incredibly frustrating. .
Ghibli Park is a bit more accessible

your best bet is probably to just narrow down what places you want to go to specifically

cause otherwise you'll get dragged in several ways if someone suggests sapporo or tohoku and another says kyushu

Yeah. So I went to the doctor and they rold me I developed bronchial asthma 😭

So I have an inhaler now

Good news is that since I never had any lung/asthma issues in the past and that it only started when I got to Japan, they said its likely temporary and due to the environment change.

Finding out you're allergic to Japan is something else though

Maybe it's just Tokyo though and it's a sign you should discover the rest of the country

Yeah apparently it could be bc of Japanese cedar blossom, which they suspect I might be allergic to lmao.
