#May 2025

omg 4 more weeks till i take my flight to Japan LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I got some for late May- with my wife’s assistance we were on three devices- two computers & a phone. One of the three got sub 4k in line. The best way to get em is to have as many devices and helpers as you can rustle up.
Ayooo time will fly by!!!
This is the day I arrive 😭
Same! Well 3.5 weeks. This is the first trip I've been excited for in a few years
Just over 5 weeks for me 🤩 cannot wait!
3.5-ish weeks for me too
3.5 weeks too!
5 weeks
37 days for me
anyone wanna share their top 3 things they're looking forward to, in tokyo especially?
It's my third time and I was supposed to come with a friend but he had to bail last minute due to work
Egg Sando 🤣
I just learned about the Japanese Communist Party so now my top priority is going to their headquarters 😂
😆
Tbh I more excited about my boyfriend being excited since it's his first time. Im looking forward to teamlabs
It was so niceee
i've done most basic tokyo tourist stuff past two times, only thing on the itinerary is SquareEnix store
I’m going to the final fantasy eorzea cafe
Youre into anime and stuff so I can't help you with that 😔. But I'm non ironically looking forward to a lot of food
@frosty pine I can check that out. thanks!
Also cup noodles museum, but that's in osaka (and yokohama)
@half raven yeah im a glutton so most of my visit list is restaurants and stuff. but I wanna do something when im not eating haha
Im a big instant noodles appreciator
you should visit the inventor's grave or something
They have a bronze statue of him 🥲
It’s really cool! For my dates it’s only the open cafe
All private rooms are booked
I know its been mentioned before but anyone looking to catch a baseball game end of may?
Any day in mind?
Nothing in mind as of yet was just interested to see where and if anything happening from 21st May onwards
Being from the UK i know nothing about baseball but it looks like it'd be fun
I have no idea how baseball works
Id just be there for the beer an vibes 😂
Same but i think its near impossible now to get
BuySumoTickets tickets for the 2025-05-31 special event in Tokyo
That's not tournament but retirement ceremony with matches
Which is pretty cool
I’m interested I know a little bit about it
I got tickets to a game
on the 20th
Ahh nice, thats when I land in tokyo
@brazen wing just looked it up it's 7800 yen to see bloodywood 💀 so expensive
You doing it?
kinda on the fence. their setlist is only 9 songs which honestly isnt that long. i paid similar price for opeth concert and that was like 2 hours
plus not a fan of this new album so far lol
Kinda missed me too
Do they have the songs they're going to play or is that not known till the event
If not then they're probably going to play the new album, right? Then I'd skip it 😅
it's a pretty fire setlist dont get me wrong but not a long one
Worth the 50 bucks imo
Has some good ones in there
its 80 for me 😭
i'll think about it a bit more lol
are concerts usually cheaper or more expensive toward or on the day of?
- The ropeway over Mt. Hakone, which I failed to do last time due to high winds.
- Try more foods. Last time I mostly did ramen and curry, but I got into sushi since then so I’m going to be looking for that as well as hotpot.
- I’m a public transit enthusiast so I just like existing in Tokyo lol
Gonna be doing DisneySea but mot sure how actually excited for it I am.
Top 3 things in Tokyo : habo advertised event on 14th/ computer parts shopping / cosplayers
I'm going to try and snag a Shibuya sky ticket, this time for sure lol
I have one evening in Tokyo and I want to spend it on a meetup, karaoke if possible
are parts cheaper in japan?
7/11 Spaghetti
Coco Curry
Live Music
Anyone want to go to the Cup Noodle Museum in Yokohama on 27 May? Looking for a buddy to do the Chicken Ramen Factory experience 😁
Not anymore
maybe for americans....will take a look at pc parts if we come across it
would be sick to get some cheap ssds
There was a brief period when the yen fell to 150yen per usd
That was the best time to buy any existing stock
When stores are trying to clear stock for new Amd 9000series and Nvidia 5000series
Top things in looking forward to in Tokyo
Nakano Broadway
Exploring listening bars in Tokyo esp in the Koenji Neighbourhood
And the sours 🤭
i really enjoyed nakano broadway even though i didn't actually buy anything
big fan of digimon cyber sleuth so seeing the actual building & all the stores as in the game was super exciting
Whats a listening bar @thorn arrow ?
Also curious
thank you everyone. seems like i'll be checking out some live performance stuff. and keep an eye out for gpu or ssd deals
maybe i'll go to hakone again and do cable car. and the open air museum
no time for me to watch live performances this time, maybe until next year, meanwhile I need to listen to more music first
i listened to j-pop and rock over 10 years ago lol. only songs i know that's recent are anime songs . but i'll still go to live acts just for the experience haha
if I have commited any days close to osaka or tokyo I may well be able to squeeze some in, but I will be too far from it, should focus on sightseeing instead
IF anyone wanna go and experience TeamLab Borderless with me on Thursday may 8, and potentially grab breakfast before, I'm down to arrange something 🙂
Anyone planning on trying some pachinko when they visit ?
I told myself i wouldnt spend anymore money on pachinko hahah. Go play at an arcade instead. you get more value for your money
Ahah! I would like to try just for the experience. There will be plenty of time at the arcade as well :p ahah
no as in there is pachinko at arcades. you just play for fun and not for money
at arcades you get like double the amount of balls for the same amount of money
2000 yen will last you a lot longer at pachinko machines in the arcade compared to an actual pachnko parlor
Pachinko isn’t fun because it requires a lot of time
There used to be pachinko palors that exchange metal balls for food/figures but Covid/lack of profit took them all out
the first time you go its cool for like 30 mins. I got a spree of jackpots once and ended up bieng in there for hours. I just turned the handle and watched stuff on my phone. all for 10000 Yen😅
No different from mobile gacha games though
But then again, I’m not a fan of gambling
I treat such activities in terms of money/time spent
I do enjoy some crane machine games
O I didn't even know that was a thing ! Thanks for the suggestion that's a great idea !
That machine is present all Asian arcades
Just that Japan don’t allow you to cash out
I played those games in my country and cashed out some Bluetooth keyboards and 3 airfryers
goto a round 1. They have a "medal" game floor. thats where the pachinko machines are. If you win the jackpot you just get more tokens to use
for refernce, at real pachinko parlors it might 1y/2y/3y/4y/5yen per ball. 1000Y is gone in like 15 Mins.
But at the arcade, you get double or triple your moneys worth in balls. the 1yen machines at the arcade give you close to 200 balls or something (I forget) so if you just wanna play for fun goto an arcade
Trip bout to be eat, sleep, coin pushers
Maybe you know something about this. Many years ago I was on a train and saw these people all wearing some bracelet. And when we passed by some pachinkos, they would be pointing at them but I couldn't understand what they were saying. I got the feeling they were gambling addicts
Promotion I guess
The bracelet had nothing to do with pachinko, i mean they didnt have any branding
Idk if there is any relation, just got this feeling that they were some weirdoes 😅
I’m guessing it’s an event and that bracelet is some form of status or promo
Yeahh, I imagined something like that. Felt cultish
But shouldn’t think too far into it
I mean events have their own bracelets for re entry
NVIDIA intros RTX 5060 series Pricing as expected. As it turns out, last week’s leaked pricing was accurate. NVIDIA will launch its new GeForce RTX 5060 series at lower prices than its predecessor. The GB206-based models will start at $299. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, featuring 4608 CUDA cores and a TDP of 180W, […]
Something to look forward to
They didnt look like event bracelets at all, but as I said, maybe not related to their interest in all the pachinkos we passed by
I like Kolor, though that's a bit expensive
ah great ! thank you for all the info mate much appreciated !
So it's like record cafes or bars where you can choose a vinyl record and play it
Some bars have like themes and they play specific music genres
https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5j3s8dP08N/?igsh=Z3NxNHllMGxzaHNl
Yesss I've seen these, they look proper chill..definitely hitting up one of these spots
Grab a coffee and relax with some wu tang vinyls
Oh yes
During the last few days of my trip I'm in a hostel in Koenji and that place has a lot of these so gonna chill there
I would love that! I am Going to add that to my list of things to do for sure. Any places you found that look particularly interesting?
Ah sorry I just seen your second message about Koenji, I will have a google and see what I can find around there 😄 thanks !
There are some cafes I have noted down
Wait lemme share
Blue on Velvet - Koenji
Music Bar cave Shibuya
Ginza music bar
Paper Moon (sorry have to look up the location)
Thanks for that 👌🏽
Theres another I had saved called Spincoaster Music Bar which is also in Shibuya
Thank you very much both for the suggestions, much appreciated 😄
You're welcome
If u guys are free on those days we can all head together also if that's something u r up for
Yeh just remind us closer to time, im defo looking to hit up one of those spots 👌🏽
Yeh sounds good to me !
oh thanks didnt know this! my friend was wanting to go, will let him know
keen for this too!
there was a vinyl record bar in shibuya on 4th floor that was pretty chill... think it was called analog or something
I have similar plans! Still looking at ticket prices
Anyone going to be in Tokyo end of may? Looking to go out and party nightlife near shinjuku if anyone wants to join me and my gf
I'm there between the 21st and 27th 😁

Ah man, gona be in kyoto at that point 🥴
Fo sho. Nice im staying in Akihabara that day too
Quick, just take a Shinkansen back afterwards 😂
That could be an option 🤔
Worst case if I miss the last train ill hit up a 24hr spa & sauna spot or manga cafe 😂
Ooooo yess
Ahh im leaving that day 😓😓 Honestly tempted to extend the whole trip atp there’s so much I wanna do
Whats an extra week of being in the best place in the world 🤷🏻♂️😄
I’m hosting a lil punk rock festival on the 17th, details out tomorrow
I’ll be there starting May 24
Anything planned into May?

🍑#1342801246918152265
No worries just being nosey !
23rd to 29th 😄 I will be about every night so hopefully catch up with a few of you guys at some point. Will have to give the asasuka bar crawl a miss as I'm going there on 25th instead 😦
Also if anyone comes across any drum and bass nights while they are looking for things to do I would appreciate it massively if you send me the details 😄
sameee
hello, is anyone going on a day trip to hakone, kamakura, or enoshima on 10th may??
Keep me posted! I’m also on the lookout for some hardstyle nights, scoping out some places in Tokyo and Osaka
i will be leaving that day 🥲
I'm also leaving on the 21st, but I'd be down for a separate bar crawl before that 😄
If anyone’s in Osaka on the 23rd I’ll be doing a bar crawl then :)
Damn I arrive in Osaka a day later
I’ll still be in Osaka for 2 more nights, I can definitely show you some spots
I’m staying in dotonbori area !
officialy booked flights, may 28-june 11 ill be back in japan 🙂
25 days till I arrive ! In Tokyo May 13 thru 19. Decided to just hunker down in Tokyo and really explore. Im a professional Chef and extensive world explorer ( 35 Countries ) I will be visiting at least 6 major food hubs across Tokyo , Eating various noteworthy foods. I have compiled a list of over 50 items and their locations. I will also be trying Tokyos spiciest ramens at 2 locations.
I will be looking for someone to accompany me to an A5 Wagu course menu , budgeting around $250 per person for a 3 hour dinner and theatrics.
If anyone would like to tag along, send me a DM. If any locals would love to show me any favorite places or hidden gems that usually deny tourists .. please reach out
Just staying in tokyo?
yess and nearby areas ive been to japan a lot of times so
sad ill miss this by week or so 😦 but im def planning for more live shows to be on my itinerary. I went to haku last year in feb per your rec, they remain one of my fav bands
Hey guys, I'll be in Tokyo from 10th-16th and Osaka from 16-22nd. It's my first trip and I'm a bit nervous and don't know anything lol but It'll be an amazing experience. Since I don't know anything, I'll mostly be following my itinerary plan and visit some spots like akiba for PC parts and electronics and some other local tourist spots. If anyone would like to meet up or has interesting ideas for something to do feel free to reach out and DM me
Hi you may enjoy #1342801246918152265
Oh this sounds awesome 🤘 , I'll check it out for sure
Gotta see how to put it in my timetable
thanks for the info
One month until my trip 🥹
woop woop! my trip is gettin close as well
Soon soon!
Less than 3 weeks for me, I'm so ready 😎
We have quite a similar schedule, I was planning to visit EXPO in osaka too but it would be nicer with someone
also planning teamlabs and skytree, the usual things people visit
I'd be down to team up if you want 👍
Your days align with as lol my days! Woah.
But I'm back at Tokyo from 21st-23rd.
@frank willow @undone burrow
Tokyo 9th-13th
I have teamlabs, sky view, Japankarts, cabycafe, monster hunter cafe, origami museum, sky tree and aquarium
A dedicated day to hike 4.5hr Ishwarayama mountain and visit yamanaka lake, onsen
Kyoto 13-16th
Bamboo forest, monkey park, row boating, boat rafting, Mt Inari 1.75 hr hike, one of the temples, Kumoro night, maybe bicycle the neighbourhood.
Osaka 16-21st
Japankart, Umeda, Moss shrine, Tsutat(I think) tower and slide,
Aquarium, Wonder boat
Dontonboro and 2 other markets, Spa world(every night), Expo2025, USJ(maybe).
Tokyo 21st-23rd
JapanKart, one or two other attractions.
I have not gone through my list of secret hidden bars, ones hidden behind secret codes and doors etc... but I want to hit em 😅.
Street karts mentioned
I understand Japanese resentment against it. I do them at end of my journey to revisit the areas I have visited. I'm sorry if I make you cringe.
Monster hunter mentioned
I haven't planned out too much myself other than the itinerary that I have. But so far I know I'll be staying in Tokyo from 10th-16th and Osaka 16th-22nd for a 12 day trip in total. I'm green as grass when it comes to attractions in Tokyo
Monster Hunter cafe sounds awesome
It does sound fun ngl but it is peak tourist activity
Street karts in Japan: 👑🏎️💨😊🤳🌸
Street Kart in USA: ‼️🚨🚔🔫🏍️ 💥 ( aka ATVs in Philly)
it was so much bloody fun lol im glad i did it before the tourism peaked. even im hesitant to do it now because of all the hate
but i still recommend it to my friends
they need to make it legal in more countries so its not a peak tourist activity in japan
It's just nice to revisit some locations from the perspective in a kart. Did you do it during daytime or night?
Mine was in the evening, maybe 5pm and so it ended up being night time by the end of the drive
Would you prefer that timeslot over the daytime ones?
Hmmm hard to say, I guess it would be a bit nicer at night but overall the fun is driving through the main streets regardless of the time
True. I had been prioritising nights over days ATM.
The only thing I'd recommend is get the longest drive. I did 3 hours and was enjoying it so much id go longer if I could
Where did you get the 3 hour one!!! Can you DM it?
Sec, I'll have to dig up old messages
These guys https://www.facebook.com/share/1DuniTVM1F/
See posts, photos and more on Facebook.
i'd be interested in the monster hunter cafe if its in the paseala resort
Same. When you visiting Tokyo?
10 to 19
Anyone interested in attending Cody Lee concert on 25th May, in Tokyo?
@viscid hound its only a tourist thing right? Don't the locals hate it?
Ayy I want to visit it too, and we are in tokyo at the same time
I'll be from 10-16
Hey all, Ill be in tyokyo from may 16th to 31st! No set plans but would love to mee tup with people while there.
Hi you may enjoy #1362782100750729336 !
cheers will check it iut !!
@bright island @frank willow
I am there 9-13. Cannot do 11th. How is 13th midday looking? Should we start a thread (I dunno how) on this?
if you want to start a thread go ahead
Do it.
Also, anyone interested in maybe try a the cabybara cafe? I haven't got times book but will be trying to gun for something.
Capybara cafe: ethically dubious
Hi all, is anyone doing Yakushima mid May? 🌄
Hello! I'm keen to plan a trip to Fuji Q with a small group 🙂 I'll be in Tokyo from 15th may till the end of the month so it would be somwtime between those dates. If anyone else is interested then let me know and we'll figure out a date that works for the majority
Put me down as tentatively interested. 24 to 29
same here, there at the exact same time
I'm doing a hike off the beaten path on 11th May. Mt Iishiwara near lake Yamanaka. It's for views of Mt Fuji, finishing off with onsen and a bus trip back to Shinjuku station before 8pm.
I'd love to join! I was planning on going as well anyway 😄
Sweet, I'll make a thread ( let me go check on youtube...)
Idk if your planning on hiking up Fuji , but from personal experience Mt Fuji is best enjoyed from afar. Otherwise youll waste a half day with long annoying lines and a feeling of wasted time.
You can't climb Fuji in May anyway
Makes sense. I did the hike my first visit of Japan and went during August. Fkn brutal heat.
I wish I could do it, but I'm there early June, still off season. How long did you take to reach the peak
So... Climb Mt Ishiwariyama and take photos of mt Fuji from there 😅.
Another week has passed
LMAO
Haha feels
Time marches on and the age of a new king draws near
#1363456556733042818
Toyosu fish markets
Teamlabs
Rooftop Footbath
Gundam plaza
Science emergence technology (robots)
Miniatures museum
Go kart racing trek(no license required).
Toyosu Mango Onsen
2 more weeks till I can forget about work and chill in Tokyo
Can't wait 😭
4weeks for me and im literally just done with work, need a long break from it 😅
I feel you
Same! 🙏 Exactly two weeks and I'll be on a plane
Hi! Solo traveler from Norway here! I've never been to Japan, but I will arrive in Tokyo on the 7th of may as well, it would be awesome to hang around with someone who has some experience! 😁
If in Tokyo in the middle of the month...
#1342801246918152265
#1362782100750729336
Any nice things or meetup to attend in early may in tokyo ? Landing on the 3rd and staying in tokyo until the 12th, if there's any meetup or hangout?
people will post here when the dates get closer.
It is always better to post early than last minute
Meetups are generally on a day-to-day or over a few days basis around here, as people are still busy with lives when not vacationing
If the meet up doesn’t require booking tickets and stuff I agree.
Should I start a thread for a meetup - hitting secret bars or just a meetup on 8th May night in Tokyo?
Or we can plan here itself?
Im down for some secret bars , but i wont be there till the 13th
I'll be in Tohuku by that time 🥲
8th would be great, I'm down!
I'd be down aswell
What are the secret bars?
Probably a bit esoteric but anyone going to wrestling Dontaku in Fukuoka on May 4?
@past epoch which was that really top tier restaurant you mentioned you were planning on visiting?
I think this is what I was thinking about
I will arrive the 16th with my friend, so maybe we will overlap enough to get some food
Lets do it. Ill be purely in tokyo for my trip. Whats your budget for high end. What are you both willing to spend on a meal. Id love to do a muilti course prefix
Otherwise im down for whatever. I have a really big food list drawn up
He just sent me this place: https://maps.app.goo.gl/wtmDypXbYGUHMAAZ7?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy
We're down to spend decent money on a good experience
Im down for an omakase experience
Ive yeeted $1500 for a single meal before. This trip id prob max at $250 - $300. But obv if its only a Michelin experience
Yeah I'm down for $250-300 if it's a truly unique experience
We'll be in Tokyo during the last part of your stay as well
Ok thats a good threshhold. I will do my research and find a great experience. Once i find the spot ill send you links to reserve your spots.
Hey, im in Japan from the 9th to 20th would love to do Tempura or Wagyu omakase if you are interested 🙂
Bonito and a plus 1 are joining me on the 16th. Your welcome to join as a 4th
I will be sending reservation details later today. Whats your budget/ max your willing to spend in a nice prefix meal?
20-25k Yen would probably be my limit
I’m down!! :))
I'm day tripping to Nikko on the 8th but i'll be back in Tokyo for the evening, may join if a bar hop/meet up forms !
Yess definitely do!! I’m heading Nikko 11-13th so I’d love to hear about how you find it ahhh :))
lmk
For sure ! I actually wish I had time to do a couple days in Nikko too but could only swing the day trip, happy to pass along any tips over a drink if we end up out that night !
Oooo I did two nights in Nikko last Sept and it was the best
Hikes waterfall those temples
Nikko is still my fav among all the places I visited
The restaurants shut down really early btw 5-7
After 7 there's one or two konbinis and one izakaya where all the crowd goes since most almost all restaurants close
And buses are very rare post 6
So if you're hiking def check the timetables to come to the city centre
You might’ve just saved me 🤣🤣 I had no idea about the buses omg
I’m so excited it looks so peacefulll
https://discord.com/channels/440956791426383882/1364303768203694160
created the thread
well now i wish the meetup was on the 7th so I could get the tips
(I actually don't, I need to get up at like 6am on the 8th to catch my train)
It is
And if you collect goshuins def do that in Nikko
Would be better if you could manage to stay the night or it'll be quite a hectic day
Btw the pass doesn't cover the fancy train (sorry forgot the name)
It covers the bus loop in Nikko and it also covers the cruise I think
But I didn't have time to do that
Also there are amazing onsens there
Worth noting the Nikko Passes have gotten a price hike just recently which makes them less attractive than they used to be
Same here
I didn't really know and we got the last bus I think and it was just me, and one other person I met on discord and two other hikers we met
That's it
And Nikko tends to get very cold in the evenings
Sept end the temp dropped to 1 degree Celsius
Ooo okay
If u want specific recommendations u can dm me
If I know ill def try to help you
They can still make sense, they're just not as easy to make work as before
Yaa for the buses for two days the passes helped to some extent
thanks ! I'll keep that in mind
Since the things are quite spread out it takes quite some time
I'll be in Tokyo that day if you still have room
@thorn arrow How are the roads around there? Im considering renting a JDM motor for the experience but could also make the most of it and drive to some beauts scenery 😁
I've never heard of nikko but it's going on my list now!!
Thanks for the information @thorn arrow
The roads are amazing
Some hairpin bends for sure
But people do rent cars there since the locations are somewhat spread out
The marshlands and the temples for instance
Around an hour in bus between them
Having a car would be amazing
Some pictures from Nikko
Oh hell yeah, might have to be done then. Thanks 😁
oh wow, it was one of the places i planned to go during this trip. Def going now, so beautiful there
counting down days already
did you get the big dango snacks from a local vendor there
they are hefty
I hadn’t planned to go there, but I have a free day on my schedule in Tokyo and now I have a potential thing to fill it!
Oooo nope nope
I tried something else
Some kinda dumpling
Most restaurants were closed by the time we got back 😭
dang!
I’m (38M) doing a solo trip May 7- May 19
I’ll be in Tokyo May 7
Sapporo May8-11
Hakodate May 13-14
Back to Tokyo May 15-19
Would love to meet up with others!
Hi, you may enjoy #1362782100750729336
2 more weeks to my trip
Oh this has me reconsidering Karuizawa for Nikko instead
What’s up everyone, M23 from the US (Massachusetts) and will be traveling solo. If any of you guys are in Tokyo from May 20-25, Kyoto May 31-June 4, or Osaka June 5-8 feel free to hit me up. Planning on exploring all the cities as well as experiencing the night life! Looking forward to meeting new people so don’t hesitate to reach out!
Would be down, will be my second day in town
My friend and I are leaving from MA! We'll be there 15-29
Also from MA. In Tokyo the 19th-24th
we gotta do an MA meetup 😂
We for sure got to
Count me in for MA meetups!
I'm doing a big event on the 17th
#1362782100750729336
Oh I notice the subreddit has posted the monthly thread for May now.
My two large excursions from Tokyo (where I’ll be from 18-24) are Hakone and Nikko. Not sure what exact dates I’ll be doing those. The vague plan right now is Hakone on the 21st and Nikko on the 23rd, but those dates might change because I’m going to be making sure I go to Hakone on a less windy day. Last time I went I couldn’t do the ropeway because of high winds and I want to make sure I do it this time. In Nikko I’m probably gonna be looking for a 2-3 hours hike as well as just general sightseeing. If anyone would be interested in going to either of those places around those dates, let me know!
so for nikko, the nearby temple/tombs are a pretty nice excursion and if you want just a nature hike I'd recommend the sennjogahara marshlands
hey looking to do those on similar dates, would be open to going together.
Totally!
I had been thinking of a hike jumping off from this spot but that area looks good too. https://maps.app.goo.gl/Xwczdw5bH5MA18X98?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy
I'm going to nikko on 22ndand coming back on 23rd but am a bit flexible with that! I also want to do a hike so if you find any good routes please do say 🙂
Booked a room for overnight since people were saying the buses stop fairly early
Ah. Well if the wind situation with Hakone works out right to make the 23rd a good day to go there, I might do Nikko on the 21st. I’m generally trying to avoid switching hotels as much as possible, so I will be returning to Tokyo the same day myself. Seems like around 7 PM is the latest you can leave and still catch the Tobu Railway express for a roughly two hour journey. And later than that you’re stuck taking local trains for a roughly 3 hour journey.
I had been looking at either this one
Mount Maruyama Trekking Course on AllTrails
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/japan/tochigi/mount-maruyama-trekking-course?sh=bqftyc&u=i&utm_medium=trail_share&utm_source=alltrails_virality
Or this one
Mount Akanagi - Kirifuri Kogen on AllTrails
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/japan/tochigi/mount-akanagi-kirifuri-kogen?sh=bqftyc&u=i&utm_medium=trail_share&utm_source=alltrails_virality
Depending on how energetic I feel that day and the time. But the area @alpine lantern recommended looks cool as well.
Unfortunately the highest peaks in the area are like full day treks.
Mind saying where the forest and waterfall picks are? I see several different waterfalls in the area.
Oooh yeah thanks
Hi! My name's Haven, 34M, and from the US. I speak English fluently and will rely on basic Japanese words/phrases due to my procrastination. Lol. I'll be solo traveling to Japan for the first time in early May; Osaka from 7-10 and Tokyo 11-15.
Would love to meet fellow solo travelers who'd be interested in checking out some places together or someone familiar with the areas. Generally, I'll be exploring pretty leisurely besides a few sites, eateries, nerdy shops, and casual hikes to shrines l'd like to check out. I'll be at the world expo on the 8th and Teamlabs borderless on the 12th.
As far as my interests go, I'm pretty into nerdy things like videogames and anime, so you can bet be hauling merch back home after my trip. If you're in the area and would like to meet up, hmu!
My Genki 1 book sitting unused on the bookshelf as I say “I’ll start it this week” for nearly a year. Too late now lol.
Never too late 🙂
hi! would like to plan a meetup in osaka on the 9th/10th got those two days planned for a lil bit of shopping
Hi all! I'm Jesse (27M) from Australia. First time solo travelling and will be in Tokyo (5-9), Kyoto (10,11) and Osaka (12-14).
Mainly going to eat and see the sites, the only things really pencilled in are teamlabs borderless, USJ and an Imperial Palace tour. I'd love to hear any recommendations for a day trip kinda hike out of either Tokyo or Osaka!
Would also be happy to meet up with a few other English speakers to grab food and chat shit 🙂
4 days till may
Sorry got a little busy
Here you go
Waterfall
Marshland
Lake
Day trip wise - I'll recommend Mt Takao (planning to go this time) and I really loved Enoshima last time - it's really close by from Tokyo (1 hour ish) and it is such a cute little place
Thank you!
sooooooooooooooon
Yeah. My problem was back in like September I had gotten through properly memorizing Hiragana and then got busy in October and mostly forgot, then was annoyed I had to do it again and kept putting it off. But I want to at least have hiragana and katana memorized just so I can recognize sounds I see and reinforce them.
Ill add you!
You need a Japanese characete wall scroll in your room. I recommend it.
Oh my friend, I have those. They sit there right above my computer taunting me. I somehow still don’t look at them enough lol
Easter egg: Your Name poster reflected in the Katakana poster.
I find these guys way more helpful
On a different note, I am considering climbing Mount Nantai on my Nikko trip. Seems to take like 6 hours so it would eat like my entire day there. But it seems like the views may be worth it. Plus even if I fail to reach the top, it seems like the stations on the way up offer pretty good views themselves.
That’s good you found a way to learn
i unexpectedly learnt super fast. I signed up for tutoring lessons, first lesson had romanji, 2nd lesson didnt and i was having a panic attack, i think she forgot what i was up to. I was so worried that all i did was write them out multiple times every night, i could read and write in less than a month 😂
Yeah I think with the flashcards I can get hiragana and katakana done in a couple weeks. That’s my goal at this point, to have them and my basic phrases, basically.
Got 10 pages that look like this lol
I think I will have the basic hiragana done like tomorrow. Not sure how long the compound stuff’ll take. I mean obviously once you have basic, it’s just the memorization of a few patterns from there to get the compound stuff down, so I’m not sure it’ll be that long.
whats the compound stuff?
Stop writing them out endlessly it doesn’t help 😭
Writing them out tactically (ie as part of Anki review) helps
or just reading them for now and trust that you’ll get infinite chances to practise writing them as you progress in your studies
I’m talking about these guys. I don’t know the technical term, just what these posters call them.
Ah that's easy, because it's just 2 hiragana letters that you'd already know
To the point that you barely need to learn anything
Like I said, the patterns of what makes what
It literally helped
“Less than a month” is a long time to learn to read kana
You can get them all in your head in an hour or two, then cement that knowledge in the next couple of days if you pick your learning methods well
but glad you got there in the end
I can write too
I’ll say I’m not planning on doing that mostly because I never plan on writing anything. Reading and conversation only.
Me too, if I write, it would be using iPhone keyboard
Even that has its own set of challenges
Yeah handwriting is not an important skill
True
Hello
It is officially 10 days before trip
11 for me. I don’t know what I’ll do when I reach my hotel till 2pm
I'll have to, after 20 hours of flying to Tokyo, spend another 5 and a half hours going to Aomori 🫠
At least I'll be nice and tired when I reach at night
I’ll be nice and tired when I reach Tsuyama
Check in is 3 pm but I reach Okayama at lunch time
I wonder if I should use a timed hotel to relax till I can check in or ask akihabara Washington for early check in
I arrive quite early in Tokyo that I need to kill time by getting out of there
Thank you for recommending Enoshima, i had not come across that yet. I was planning on going to lake kawaguchiko but i think im going to do Enoshima / Kamakura now instead 🙂
Start your day from Kita-Kamakura for some of the most impressive temples, and work your way down to the coast from there
Ah good to know ! Thank you 🙂
These are the ten ten series right
ankidroid is pretty good as well for flashcards
I did this during new year 2025 as per the mods/helpers recommendation
Drop suitcase at hotel storage then Go to the cinema
Subtitles or nah? 😂
Im landing at 7am 🥴 no idea what ima do until 3pm
Well hotel breakfast would be my first choice
I land about 6am and hope to reach by 8am
I always like to walk around the neighbourhood where my hotel is at first
hope jetlag doesnt mess you up
The new Final destination movie(if it's out then) /or any thriller. Should keep you awake
Japanese subtitles.
I do like FD movies, now to find a cinema open at that time 😂
I’m gonna use anki when I get to doing kana but for hiragana and katakana I prefer something physical.
Im not sure what you mean.
Anyone interested in American football games. May 3rd and 4th games in Tokyo and Kanagawa
The ones with the dot and the double quotation marks
They're known as the dakuten series
At least that's what they were teaching - I joined classes after the first trip and then dropped out 😭
Love American football (broncos fan) shame I won't be there till the 20th 😦
Are there anymore games after that?
@ornate fable @coarse eagle
Yes! Many
Down to go to any of these. Not sure which ones are where though I only checked the early games
Thanks ! When i get home i will see if any of these dates line up with my schedule 😄
Looks like I’ll be around for the May 24th and 25th game, if I’m reading this schedule right lol
hello, I'll be in Tokyo around May 14 to 27 and am looking for friends to meet up with !!! :3
Im sure theres a few pre planned link ups happening around those times 👌🏽 anything in particular you're looking to do/see?
im still planning and researching, however I want to see gardens and temples , visit akihabara, themed cafes like the kirby cafe, ghibli museum
I believe things like themed cafes and ghibli museums are tough to get reservations/tickets to..maybe see if you can sort those asap - i think a few people in here struggled a bit
okay thank you for the tips ill sort these things out!!
21 days to go
For ghibli museum you are already toast unless you find someone reselling a ticket
Tickets go on sale a month before
Yeah thought as much
Kirby cafe you are toast as well
Pokémon cafe is booked out too
Ghibli museum is doable though
Check #1056119213082808400
If you have a Japanese phone number you can also buy ghibli tickets from a different stock than the ones offered to tourists
Hey ya'll! I'll be in Tokyo/Osaka from May24th-June6th
🙋♀️ !!!! Any events after the 13th 😭 ?
Also go Birds 🦅
thank you😭😭 i might end up delaying my trip a little just to make sure I get tickets to everything I want, anyways ty for the advice!!:)
if anyone is planning on being in Tokyo in late May let me know, I'm looking for travel buddies:):)
U still havent booked yet? Coming up so soon
my flight has been booked! Just haven't booked any activities, this is my first time solo traveling
Ah ok
Im only reaching on the 20th, lmk ✌🏽
@orchid blade I'm in Tokyo between 21 and 27 May 😁
Do hotels ASAP, good ones are starting to sell out
UNPLAN shinjuku seemed to have plenty of female only dorms when I was looking
Weird question but are there any Aussie meetups for election night?
I'm going to Japan to avoid the election 😂
I book all my hotels / hostels only one or two days before arrival. And it worked really well during the last 3 weeks and keeps possiblities open to leave sooner / stay longer in a place if wanted. I only would recommend to plan ahead more if you are in rural areas where the number of hotels ist very limited.
If you try doing that around a national holiday though you may be screwed
They are all refundable within 24 hours
it's much safer to have one solid plan and then cancel reservations 48 hrs before
Well Golden Week is coming and in my region there are still loads of places in that period available
There are already some top choices I would've stayed at that have sold out
I got the last room in one place in Kyoto
If you're not picky and just want some place I guess you'll probably be fine
Ah okay that might be the difference. I don't have hotels that I NEED to go to. I just sleep and shower there (and maybe a nice breakfast if available)
how much u paying a night
Oh different. Cheapest 15€ for a tiny hostel, most expensive was I think 90€ at a ryokan
But that one was with breakfast and dinner of course
I was so focused on Canada I didn’t even realize Australia had one
booking a few months earlier is also cheaper by few hundreds of dollars
hotel prices only go up the longer you wait
the only thing worth waiting for are price drops for flight tickets
Dont think id take the risk with flights tho, popular time of year no?
think more like booking the flight ticket 1 or 2 months in advance
that's where you probably get the best deals from
Booked mine back in Jan, 750 eur inc 2 checking, 1 carry one and 1 personal
It is a oneway tho
booked from AMS to ICN, and HND to AMS
There are websites that give you like 50% on bookings on hotels if you're short term just saying...
yall did anyone get the shibuya sky tickets they wanted 😭
Dropped this in the May channel a while ago, but also dropping here:
I'll be in Tokyo between 19th and 23rd. On 23rd I'm heading to Fujikawaguchiko, and coming back to Tokyo on 25th, and then leaving to Osaka on 27th.
Up for food, drinks, sightseeing, chatting, coffee, or general hanging around on those days before Osaka, most likely! Not entirely finished up with what I'll be doing on each day.
My dates arent bookable yet but ill defo be tryna grab them soon as I can, hbu?
I missed them, the queue was over 2 million 😭 scalpers got to them first
There cannot be 20,000 people in the queue for Shibuya Sky every day. There are like 40,000 people in the queue for the Ghibli Museum for a whole month.
Is that really the number?
That’d mean like 15x the people try to get Shibuya Sky tickets as Ghibli Museum tickets, which is not equal to the relative amounts of discord I see online about it.
its the number 1 most trending attraction in tokyo
this was right before i got in 🤷♀️
It takes time to go up and put your stuff into the locker.
Hope you make it in time.
Im probably booking for an hour or so prior just to have time to chill up there..no rush
I have bought 17:00-17:19 on 10th
and 17:40-17:49 on 12th.
It's in case it rains out.
I spare tickets for 12th and 10th. Had one person unable to make it. But I think you've had to place a name on the ticket so it won't work for anyone else, right?
Yea... so i thought this ain't possible #1366815127713611858
Thats the plan. I cancel if its forcasted to rain on 10th May.
Hmmm its going to cut it very close with timing everything on my 12th though. I am sure the sunset is worth it.
What day you booked mate?
Same same
Im alright with missing out on stuff 😆 any excuse to keep going back
Damn. More demand than I thought.
Yeah fr. Don't over plan, because plans are hard to follow. Just go with the flow, have fun and dont stay stuck in picture view the whole trip, get off your phone and enjoy yourself
oh dang... thanks for the heads up rip. Oh well!
me right now with no plans yet a little less than a month out
The only real planning i ever do is what days i wanna be in another place. The rest is left to random exploring. 36 countries visited so far and none have disappointed or felt left unexplored.
Tomorrow is May
ooo thank u for the potential tip (hope) !
if either of u @viscid hound @undone burrow end up forfeiting your tickets and are intersted in meeting on the 12th or 13th, please let me know!
Hello everyone! I arrived Japan on the 23th. I am currently in Saporro. I might stay here until end of Golden week, spend few days in Hiroshima/Miyajima/Osaka and Kinosaki. The rest of the time, I will be in Tokyo, staying with a friend in Yokohoma. Would love. I will be here until 3rd week of May. Would love to join a meet up? Any suggestions. I decided to significantly reduce what to include on my itenerary and just really enjoy my vacation.
Today is still tomorrow for me. And tomorrow is the day after tomorrow.
Hey I'm also thinking of going to Fujikawaguchiko probably as a day trip. If plans overlap could I join?
Ok now it’s tomorrow

Hi, y'all. Landed in Tokyo earlier today. First time I've been in Japan, and I was out in Ueno since 1 pm basically. In Tokyo until Saturday afternoon, when I'm supposed to meet a friend in Osaka. I'm okay roaming places solo, but I think it's more fun to go with people to talk to, especially when it comes to night stuff like bars. 27 M from Canada!
I’m hoping to do karaoke in Tokyo at some point during the week of the 19th.
That sounds good! I don’t know which city I’ll be in Osaka or Tokyo but I’ll keep communicating with ya!
What you planning for tomorrow?
Bunch of people coming to this #1364068841050869880 message

Hello! Will be in Japan from May 26 - June 5 for my bday :3
Short stops at Tonami and Takaoka. After that I planned a few days to visit the noto peninsula and follow the coast until Biwa lake. But after I have read that quite some people on this server love Toyama city I am thinking about to also do a stop there before noto not sure by now though 😅 🤷♂️
But wait I am staying 2 nights in Shirakawago, so we could grab some food together or something on Sunday evening

Hi! I'm 29F from Poland. This is my first time in Japan and I'm super excited! I’ll be in Kyoto from May 27 to 31, and in Osaka from May 31 to June 4. Would love to meet up for some sightseeing, dinner, drinks, or whatever 🙂
Ill be in tokyo friday morning, can't check in till mid afternoon so if anyone wants to hang lmk 😄
Anyone want to go visit some shrines and stuff tomorrow around tokyo? Thinking of that or going to Nikko on a day trip if anyone else is also going there?
I'm at nikko right now, it was crazy how many people it was. Remember it was and I still think it is golden week. I had ticket from a tour, otherwise it would take maybe 2 hours queuing and then you have 20 to 30 minutes queuing inside of the shrine complex itself.
I’m going to an all-afternoon music show today, if anyone’s looking for some entertainment

any other highlights?
Depends what you consider a highlight really, but they're all great bands with something unique and special about them

Some of the others I don't really know because they haven't released anything, but they have notable members like venue owners or members of other bands
what kind of punk? I used to listen to a lot of hardcore ~10 years ago, but the only Japanese one i listened to back then was Envy
Bakyun the everyday is like J-pop/rock punk but with really inspired songwriting, so much fun
The others are more loud and hardcore-leaning I think https://youtu.be/hHmSr6o30DA?t=32

oh this is sick! I'm from DC and even though hardcore started here in the 80s. There's no scene anymore
Japan doesn't realise what an incredible scene they're sitting on and how rare it is in the world. Not just punk, but everything
If you're coming you can reserve a ticket here for the cheaper 'advance' entry price https://forms.gle/8R65xBuMCZC6n5Zj9 can’t reserve now it’s started
hello! we're (me & @mellow trellis) looking at going to joypolis tomorrow, if anyone wants to come along too
it's an indoor amusement park
Don’t forget to bring passport for slightly cheaper tickets
yes it's the law
Even if it wasn't the law, leaving your most important document in a foreign country in your hotel room is scary
Not if there's a safe
I usually hide it strategically. Fine with bringing it in the day, but night out nah lol
My mother has put our passport in the front desk or hotel room safe on previous trips
doesn't this only apply to purchases > 5000 yen?
Joypolis has a ticket discount if you show passport
Photo taken in August 2023. Not sure if the price holds.
interesting so do people not recommend bringing passport around at night? it was my understanding if we're ever stopped by police we would have to present our passport
But then again 300yen isn’t much
But I take the admission alone to play at the crane machines
Checking to see if anyone wants to go cosholic on 18th may. https://discord.com/channels/440956791426383882/1360943063274360852
If i'm drinking i usually don't because its easier to lose your stuff. I will always carry my license or some other ID though
Losing your passport is a PIA
If your going solo I wouldn’t recommend it. To much risk
But what if they check id
This is only my second trip but I’ve never actually been Id’ed. I feel like they just assume all foreigners here are above a certain age lmao.
Can’t speak for everyone else though of course
i mean if it's the law to bring your passport around with you, i genuinely wouldn't risk it tbh
I Carry it during the day no worries. Just knowing I’m going to get drunk at night is a risk for me. But to each his own of course
Worst case you don't have a passport you get escorted back to your residence and have to retrieve it, worst case of losing your passport however.. much more annoying
i feel like there's even more risk if you don't bring it at night in case you get into a drunken altercation
That’s what I felt like would happen
i just don't wanna go to jail lol
but anyway sounding like no one's available for tomorrow?
or not interested in joypolis?
I’ve always gone at least once to joypolis
But I’m in the office
And takoyaki museum
rip even during golden weekend?
I only arrive on the 10th
I got shibuya sky sunset tickets on sat and it seems like its gonna rain. Hoping its one of those 'too late out to be accurate' weather forecasts lol
I visit odaiba for takoyaki , joypolis crane machine, pallet town game centre and Tokyo leisure land
Seem like it’s gonna rain all week basically
it was meant to rain yesterday afternoon but it didn't rain until 8pm & even then it only rained a little bit, you might get lucky
@mellow trellis keen for the rest of these too? after joypolis maybe
Sure, that was the plan to stay in odaiba anyway
Sorry pallet town is perm closed
I guess it’s diver city
This weekend is Evo Japan at Tokyo big site
@mellow trellis you woke up okay? Hahaha
did you guys get last train last night?
Yeah all good buddy
Went in the wrong direction first so I had to run to catch the last one
But all good
Yup, already signed in
Hell yeah bro. I’m glad you got there safe.
Yeah I had like 3 trains left. I think hahaha. walked to McDonald’s and got some chicken nuggies for dinner lol I was too lazy n pretty buzz
the classic tokyo experience lmao
oh you guys didnt stay for too long then? but honestly i get the chicken nuggies, i got a riceball then passed out
We took a shot and then drank a beer at the station hahah so we chilled a little bit.
What time are you thinking?
im not sure @mellow trellis what time?
im guessing best to get there at opening time to beat crowds
Probably yeah, havent checked yet
It opens at 10 am so lets get there by then
Tomorrow is a holiday. Joyopolis is going to be packed. I went in golden week one year and it was close to an hour wait for all the rides
Joypolis has a live wait times map
https://tokyo-joypolis.com/floor/index.html
This sounds really cool been looking for some punk/hardcore shows while I’m here
Doors are open so come on over if you’re up for it
Sounds good I just need to head back to my hostel and drop off some stuff so my take me a while
Ok well the timetable is there
i really wanted to see bakyun, but looks like ill be at this smash tournament instead 💀
shame…
do the bands stick around to sell merch the whole time?
Some of them will, some of them might have places to be
No real rules on that
Does anyone know if there is any sumo wrestling matches in Tokyo today or tomorrow that you can still get tickets for?
I’m not researched on how it works but would like to go to watch if I could
@mellow trellis @prime cloud how do we feel? should we do the day after instead, so weds?
Tommorow or wednesday is fine for me, got a very flexible schedule
okie
we can do weds instead maybe then
just to avoid the last day of golden week
Ye good idea
Super late to the party on this, but if you guys have room I`d love to tag along!
Looks like I missed most of it 😔 but I’m gonna head over now, hopefully still worth it
Should be!
I can't do weds but no stress
Enjoy yourself and tell us how it goes 🙂
what days are you available?
@mellow trellis @sand vortex @prime cloud what days this week work for people? thurs or fri?
we could also attempt to speedrun them all by getting there at 10am ASAP tomorrow & hope for the best, whatever day works best for everyone really
Friday is 😬 Evo Japan first day
Anything else before is good
thursday?
Thursday is good. Wednesday and tuesday too
Technically that’s in odaiba too
True that, but idk when my pool will start sooo 😅
I'd love to join if that's ok? Wed or Thurs work for me
Any day works for me! Thursday might be a bit tight but I can probably swing it as long as it’s not too early
whats considered not too early for you?
I have to drop my luggage off at my next accommodation so any time after 10:30 should be gucc?
it opens at 11 on thursday @cobalt coral @mellow trellis @sand vortex @prime cloud would that work for everyone?
Finally got here after some detours
Yup! I might lag behind a bit but I can always catch up 🙂
yup ez
I also just got here, on the back of three side now. Wearing a light t shirt and white/blue striped shoes
😭
I'll see, maybe I can push back my plans by a day
Anyone at the Fuchu Matsuri tonight?
Was 2day ago it was rally fun
Ya I whant to go, but I am dead tried from hike Nantai, in Nikko
And I am on the train right now
if not could always hang out tomorrow as well?
maybe not joypolis but cbk for something else
Possibly, what would you be thinking?
atm got no plans, were you wanting to do anything before leaving Tokyo?
Not really tbh, just something to keep me entertained haha
Is anyone going to Takachino Gorge or Fukuoka
Fukuoka 20th for 3 days
3 days seem like a lot, are you winging or planning heavily?
In between, this trip im taking a more relaxed approach
What characteristic or activity drew you there?
The yatais, i wanted to see the buddha statue that lays on its side. Also was going to do the gorge, beppu and yufuin, but got too ambitious. I can do those in other trips.
Fukuoka is nice, you can definitely take it slow there
Not a whole lot to do there though lol
Okay nice! If you’re adding beppu and other areas i can see the huge value
I wanted to do the takachino gorge so badly but it’s an impossible itenitary rn so I’m sticking to Kyoto Osaka and japan. We thought that we could pull off a day trip to fukuoka if we get bored of kyoto or Osaka
With traveling its really 2.5 days. Dazaifu one day, nanzoin temple another, and filled with eating, massage, shopping, and yes in a slower relaxed way
My last trip was body breaking
If it feels too slow i might do a last minute nagasaki
Don’t burn yourself out but if you can… def visit Nagasaki
Can confirm. I was there for 3 days and saw all I wanted to see, except maybe a baseball game
Honestly it would be my #1 choice to live in if I were forced to move here. Quiet enough to not cause issues, busy enough to have some things to do (and a bustling downtown)
But nothing you can’t do elsewhere
Hahaha I spent 6 months nearby and ran out of stuff pretty quick
But I still loved the area
Not surprising! Area really is lovely
Go down to Yanagawa
were going to be doing yakiniku tomorrow night if people wanna come along? with @mellow trellis @craggy mantle
@prime cloud tagging in case you want to come along too
May is so dead….
Flight in 13 hours time…
I’d be down for yakiniku if there’s a seat open
Its barely just begun. There will be plenty more posts soon
Yeah most people try to avoid traveling during golden week, it’s like the first thing that appears via google so no surprise haha.
Yep, I don't arrive until Wednesday night
we've been meeting up basically every night & have plans upcoming, which is pretty decent i think
we're still figuring out where & when but we'll keep updated, likely around 6-7pm
@tardy basin hehe I'll be there from the 27th to the 4th, do you have an itinerary?
Did you guys check out the Klook Tokyo passport? Iono what it’s called but you can bundle some things to save money. I did it 2 years ago
It includes joypolis
Oh man I'd be down for joypolis 😆 not in Tokyo till Friday though
Just arrived today, it’s super rainy, I just demolished a breakfast menu at Nakau, and I’m wondering if anyone wants to do anything indoors today?
Or stroll around, if you wanna show a newbie around 🙂
Yeah idk anything about what to do today lol
Arcades are always there
But today was supposed to be my Imperial Gardens day
I also wanted to just walk around the area at my hotel, but the rain is inescapable. If you’re near Tokyo station, I’m down to go to Yaesu mall and just see what’s going on
ya but not sure if I'd be doing much other stuff aside from joypolis lol
like from that thing
I'm in Akihabara, good excuse to do some browsing with the rain
Just checked tokyo, looks bad weather wise for next 5 days
Makes joypolis and evo look like a good idea this week
I'm going thrifting this afternoon too a few hard offs about an hour north of Tokyo if anyone is interested in coming a long
While you’re there, do you know why there’s a ton of people gathering 100 meters from the station with people screaming in megaphones?
??? Looks great to me
Saturdays kind of a bummer but Wednesday-Sunday otherwise is just cloudy. No rain
Haven't seen that yet, I'll check it out if I do
It’s raining all weekend smh. Do people still go out to clubs and about regardless? Trying to hit up Raise on Saturday if anyone’s down.
Hi everyone, I'm back from Kyoto and now I'm in Shinjuku and disappointed about the rain! Let me know if anyone wants to hang out :)
I'd also love to join if you have any open spots!
cool we're still deciding on a place, no bookings yet but will keep yall updated@boreal obsidian @cloud olive @vale heron
Yay, thank you!
Most likely not but is anyone in Sendai lol
@boreal obsidian @cloud olive when is a good time for you with yakiniku? we found this place https://s.tabelog.com/en/tokyo/A1311/A131101/13016807/
Check out E no Aru Machi Ueno Ten/エノアルマチ (Keisei Ueno/Yakiniku (BBQ Beef)、Korean) on Tabelog! 【上野駅1分】日本三大和牛『松阪牛』を炭火焼肉で頂く本格焼肉店。黒毛和牛の本物の美味しさを [Private rooms available / No Smoking / All-you-can-drink / Online reservations] Discover Japanese restau...
I can make pretty much any time this evening work
👍 and you ok with ayce?
oh heck yeah
is that both nomihodai and tabehodai? oh lord
this will be fascinating
idc wat those are just found this one randomly while browsing tabelog lol
I can do anytime pretty much!
My hotel check in is at 3 pm but after that I'm free whenever
ok so we'll do reservation for 6 ppl for now any of the courses interest you 2?
I will actually eat literally anything so it all looks good to me
so you want the wagyu course then?
I found the place so you guys choose the rest 😂 😂
I didn’t know that was a specific one lol, I thought most of them had that
they all have all you can drink too so the prices are worth it imo
Okay that's fair HAHA
nah there's 3 levels, if you scroll down to the overview tab. the wagyu course is the most expensive one, but idm if that's the preferred course
ah fuck. yeah just put me down for whatever the group wants then
i guess how cheap does everyone wanna go for 😂 again im good with any
same and that’s the problem
I'm fine with whatever it's also half off for tues but don't know how that works if it's only individual stuff and doesn't apply to sets or whatever
hopefully it'll apply
or if we can just order individually instead of a set
I feel like I just read on that website it applies to sets also
what time should we say is good for everyone? 6? 7?
One day more 🫠and I'll be in Tokyo 😎
ya!!
maybe 7 so if we stay a long time ppl can avoid rush hour
7 will give me more time to become hungry
7 100%
alright booking for 6 people, 7pm, wagyu course
All spots full? Would love to join if there’s room
you're lucky i haven't booked yet lol
might as well book for 8 lol since there are ppl interested
uhh so booking through the website is gonna cost me 3k
how do we feel about risking a walk in lol
wat the
i can still book it, everyone just give me like 300 yen or something lol
Technically you should walk in but it’s still golden week
should we just risk it then? idm covering booking fee for now, we can figure the rest out later
I'd be cool with risking it because I'm sure there are a lot of other options
Worst cast scenario
the issue is more if we have a lot of people, it will be harder to find a place
I would definitely reserve for a big group on Golden Week. That's only ¥500pp
Oh yeah, good point
Seems a fair price for the peace of mind
alright ill book it now
