Hello there! Any advice on travel? I'm planning to visit the hot spring in Beppu on the 15th of November, but I'll be leaving from Kanazawa (6 hours train ride give it or take). Would you suggest stopping in Osaka first, then going down there later after resting at least 2 nights? 22nd of November I have my flight back from HND, so I would have to go up anyway for the end of the trip

In my itinerary I also have Hiroshima, just wanted to see if someone has done something similar, if it's worth it to go or no

I just came from Miyajima. Not as bad as other tourist areas on a weekend (except the sudden influx of school kinds on a trip around 3p). Especially if you hike up Mt. Misen. Wish I could stay there longer there was so many places I couldn't see 🥰

USJ and Disney are well organised but in my opinion it's best to also do your research, know what you want to do and get there early.

Whether you're there more for the theming or the rides, queues can be quite long and access restricted because of too many people.

I’ve met him in person, he’s actually a pretty cool guy once you get to know him.

I think he’s saying because those mom and pop sushi restaurants in the middle of nowhere are pretty good.

A lot of them will use their own rice and sometimes their own catches.

I went to one where the owners son caught a massive octopus and had some of that, probably some of the best sushi I’ve had.

I don’t really care about the non English menu thing (google translate works) but many of the sushi restaurants in my area don’t have one with the exception of chains.

Maybe it’s just my opinion, but small mom and pop restaurants are always some of the best (in pretty much any country). I once drove through Shikoku and was really off the main road. I stopped by some small 定食 restaurant where I was the first foreigner to step foot in there. The owners were the nicest older couple and tried to communicate with me despite my really crappy Japanese. All the vegetables were locally grown and everything was so fresh and delicious. They wanted to take photos with us and everything. Every time I go to Shikoku I make it a point to stop by their restaurant.
