Unfortunately, I am experiencing an issue with MacOS 15.5, MacBook M2, where ES2 is no longer playable after installing the new add-on.
ES2 starts, initial screen ‘Press any key’ (with sound), then a short loading bar and then a black screen. No further actions possible except ‘quit immediately’.

How can I reset or delete the graphics/screen settings? Reinstalling did not solve the problem (uninstalled in Steam and reinstalled).

Hey there, sorry to hear its not running for you. Please check ~/Library/Application Support/Epic/ES2 (you can quickly get there by opening finder, then in the top bar select Go -> Go To Folder and paste it in). In this directory, the subdirectory Config contains the game settings, deleting or renaming ./Mac/GameUserSettings.ini will reset your graphics settings (along with any other setting except some Input settings).

As for figuring out what is actually wrong, here's some places where diagnostics might end up:

  • Crashes subdirectory of above mentioned directory (might not exist)
  • The UnrealEngine crash directory at ~/Library/Application Support/Epic/UnrealEngine/5.5/Saved/Crashes
  • The macOSs "console" application
  • ES2 application console output

Thank you. I searched for ‘Rockfish’ and ‘Everspace’ but found nothing. Unfortunately, I didn't come up with the idea of searching for ES2.
Deleting ~/Library/Application Support/Epic/ES2 solved the problem. The game is running again and the settings are quickly restored.
