I came across this statue but I don't know what it's supposed to put in. I don't even know what happens next, the red one simply spawned an aberration that dropped some items, so I assume the other one also gives more items.

Its a one time event, depends on where you put the crop sample once you can have two different outcomes. Red will give you that aberration and the blue will give you a relic heart. But once you place that crop sample and complete one of these statues consider this event over. Next time on a different roll if you come across this event you can choose the other statue to get the relic heart. Also crop sample have more uses.
