Looks like PC and XBOX are having trouble connecting to the online version of the game. Hitting start/making a new character says loading game, connecting, then just brings you back to the main screen. Can only play the game offline at this point.

If you are currently having multiplayer issues, it is not the game's "servers". Remnant runs on a peer to peer connection.
EOS (Epic Online Services) is utilized for cross-play and some other connectivity situations for this game.
You will have to play solo until Epic resolves any problems they are currently having, start your game in Offline.
