#Game Crashes on Launch

The solutions I've tried so far are
-from this reddit thread (there are two posted here )
https://www.reddit.com/r/remnantgame/comments/1idwtbb/remnant_2_wont_launch_now_on_steam/
-Reinstalling the game completely multiple times, I've manually deleted remnant 2 including my saves
-Launching the game as admin on a fresh install
-Tried the steps in the technical support thread
-Uninstalled gamebar (I found a random microsoft thread)
-Verify integrity of files multiple times
-Updated GPU drivers

Anyone have other solutions I can attempt?

Open Event Viewer
See what it says

solid sail
#

I’m not quite sure how to read it

runic blaze
#

Press Win+R and type
eventvwr.msc
It should show critical errors with applications

#

Find the remnant application in there and read what it says

#

Copy paste it here if you don't know whats relevant

#

Got it

#

is this correct?

runic blaze
#

Yes
Let's consult an expert

@gleaming urchin looks like some nvidia file corruption to you?

#

Run sfc to try and repair?

gleaming urchin
#

nvcontainer.exe
Confirmed, but it's different than the one I'm used to.

My question is, did the person uninstall their Nvidia drivers completely and reinstall?

solid sail
#

no i haven't done a clean install yet

#

but i guess it would make sense to try that as well as installing a new update

runic blaze
#

Try that

#

It's definitely some nvidia issue

solid sail
#

use DDU and go offline mode and install drivers right?

gleaming urchin
# solid sail no i haven't done a clean install yet

Do. Nvidia drivers have been awful as of late. Only the latest version has been decent. I had to stay with an older driver because the latest ones were awful.

I recommend deleting all the Nvidia drivers from your computer first, you'll have to restart twice as two of the modules require a separate reboot.

From there, when that's done, install the latest version from Nvidia's website.

#

Wasn't there recently something about a broken driver patch on some gpu?

#

Or was that amd?

gleaming urchin
#

That was AMD circa 2012-2018.

Now it's Nvidia

runic blaze
#

Kekw

gleaming urchin
#

I've raged against their drivers as of late.

runic blaze
#

Thanks for the help btw mentor

❤️

#

Happy to help

runic blaze
#

Its when i see stuff like forever winter being pc exclusive at least for now that I get an itty bitty sad

solid sail
#

Is uninstalling manually just done in control panel?

gleaming urchin
# runic blaze Sometimes i'm happy i dont game on pc anymore

Honestly, it was bad enough to swear off of Nvidia. Monster Hunter Wilds, a game I have almost 200 hours in, crashes at startup within three minutes? Madness.

Direct X 12 crashing at boot for Red Dead Redemption 2? This is how bad it was, couldn't update for months.

gleaming urchin
solid sail
#

ok got it will try now

runic blaze
gleaming urchin
runic blaze
#

Yeah

Now it's cryptofarmers and AI bros

runic blaze
solid sail
#

Nope

#

Heres the sequence I did to uninstall maybe I did it wrong

#
  1. Uninstall audio drivers -> Restart
  2. Uninstall graphics drivers -> Restart
  3. Unplugged ethernet and installed latest update
  4. Restart
  5. Attempt to open remnant 2
#

I'm looking inside event viewer and it's the same error message

runic blaze
#

Open cmd as administrator
Type
sfc /scannow
And hit enter
Let it run

#

If that doesn't work I got nothing
Reinstall should have fixed it if the driver had some kind of corruption or faulty installation

#

@gleaming urchin reinstall didnt fix it for some reason

gleaming urchin
runic blaze
#

Ofc

solid sail
#

I ran it and restarted computer again, didn't work

#

I also don't see the same error pop up in event viewer tho so progress I guess

runic blaze
#

What's it say now?

solid sail
#

there's no errors associated with the timestamps of me trying to run the game so I'm not quite sure

runic blaze
#

Might be kind of a hail mary but try this:

  • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
    Navigate to "Manage 3D settings".
  • Find and disable the "Shader Cache" option.
  • Apply the changes and reboot your PC.
  • Re-enable the "Shader Cache" option in the NVIDIA Control Panel.
#

You can also try to delete the shader cache entirely, that's been known to fix crashing issues

solid sail
#

yea ill do both

gleaming urchin
solid sail
#

that might be it, ill try again

#

ok perfect, I think it's fixed

#

game is running now

#

It completely slipped my mind thatI had to uninstall the other stuff as well

runic blaze
solid sail
#

sorry about that, ended up being a relatively simple fix

runic blaze
#

It's fine it happens
