Character reacts to finding weapons even if you already looted the weapon

Characters normally verbally react to finding secret weapons. However if you have already looted say Plasma Cutter in the crashed spaceship and then reenter the room after you restart your game, the character comments "Hey I can use that" for an empty weapon stand.

is this in the same playthrough? like you get the weapon, leave the room and walk back in the room and they do it?
