After making true crimson crown I wanted to get the missing headpiece of the crimson guard, and after completing the "succession" event Red King was acting as if he had already given me the guard set, so I can't get the headpiece of the set

Notice that you can get back the helm by having someone who doesn't have crimson armor in coop talk to him. (just did that a few hours ago)

Yeah, it does check only for the person talking to him.
