Crossplay isnt working

Im on PC and my mate is on Xbox and I cant join his world but he can join me. Both accounts are linked and all I can do is invite him. His world is set to friends not offline, he has turned off his game and on also crossplay. What is going on. We where able to play together last month

Someone told me the Epic overlay is glitched
