PC Game Pass and Xbox Console works

I read online that Xbox Game Pass versions and Steam versions can play together as long as their Epic Accounts are linked and they invite each other through the Epic Overlay Menu using Shift F3.

I play on the Epic PC version
My friend plays on the Game Pass PC version

Epic is properly linked for both of us.
We can see each other in the Overlay with Shift F3. As soon as I invite him or he invites me my game crashes with the below error

Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION 0x000002016da96a20

I cannot figure out why I am the only one that crashes. He never crashes from his side.
I can join other public games through the in-game menu, the same counts for him.
But we cannot join each other.

My only conclusion is that the Epic version and Game Pass version are not compatible at the moment.

well my fren is on epic version while im on steam. we tried the method u mention but cant invite each other. only can find each other via public waypoint

Working for some people, some are not. Unless you find the way around it like Elysium did. Regardless its working at the end. Just not fully supported.
